China is very close to the superpower status, but that result has been obtained because of Chaneese people ability to work hard almost for free.
Would you work hard almost for free to make your country superpower or to improve its status?

nope.
The world doesn't need superpowers, it needs civilised countries with good living conditions, the ability to defend the nations sovereignty and live as a free person.
I would work harder if it meant I would be helping those in need.

Unfortunately such ideas are quite unpopular in post-communist societies. People only want to work for money for themselves.

No. And i doubt that the Chinese work "almost for free" because of their patriotism. that money what is almost nothing for us, can be a lot of cash for a poorer Chinese from the countryside.

I am fairly sure that percentage of people that would actually do that is rather minuscule in reality.
Example is found here, here there are many hypocrites or so called nationalists who reside in another country where they will most likely reside for the rest of their lives yet claim eternal devotion for whatever nation they originate from or their ancestors originate from.
Will they move there and contribute there..no.. because love they feel is apparently not strong enough to make them do this since improving their financial situation is one of paramount reasons.
Make no mistake the reality is they will remain where they are and so will their descendants to only be assimilated down the line within that culture. The presence here is just perhaps a sort of a quick nostalgia fix, catering to own ego by assuming role of a nationalist and or perhaps entertainment.
So the anwer to that question is that extremely minuscule number would do such a thing.

Nobody will work for free, in the end, our family and personal care will ALWAYS precede our feelings for our nation. Nor will it do a nation any good to have a mass of people willing to work with absolutely no money to feed themselves.
Those with business skills can go back and make money, those in salary based jobs will not... since a salary in the Balkans is a joke.

the cheap labour of Chinese in China and or in many countries or for example of mexicans in USA is not related to people working for there country.
most people dont work for their country I think this is bs idea most pople work for themselves and their families.
Those Chinese are from a background of limited oppurtunities hence they are willing to take what work they can get for what pay they can get, unfortunatly as cheap labour they are greatly exploited.
People from wealthier countries that have more oppurtunities have a different outlook and are generally lazier and expect more, but none of this has anything to do with nationalism.
the answer to the question is no and most people are not in a position to do this no matter how nationalist they are.
very very wealthy people expats sometimes give money to their nation or start organisations that will help their country but the average person who is an expat and lives in foriegn country cannot afford to do this the same way that his countrymen living backhome mostly dont and cant afford to either.
There has often been a false impression among the countrymen in the country of origin that the ones who moved away are sooo much richer and hence should take more responsibility send money back etc , in reality this is bs too, most people are just doing enough to get by for themselves and immediate family.

A) Would you work hard almost for free to make your country superpower or to improve its status?
lets rephrase this shall we to make it look more realistic
B) Would you work hard almost for free to make your country's elite even more richer or to improve their status?
if no then let me rephrase it again
C) Would you work hard almost for free to make your country's elite even more richer or to improve their status and afterwords have a newspaper write a nice article about your deed (so others can point their fingers and laugh at your stupidity) ?
So is it A, B or C? Combination of more then one?
Going once, going twice.....

Do not do the same mistake i did. Im searching for a good excuse to tell my wife to get the hell out of dodge. Admin was spot on and fully agree with Ruse

chalkedon,
Is it that bad in Greece? No Greece region could be compared with any region in the USA? I am not going to move there of course, just curious.

But Chineese people hard work influenses somehow all their country, not just elite. How comes, I wonder?
I too have feelings that the more we work in our country the richer our elite becomes... Contrary to China...
