And i didn't drink rakija, i was drinking white wine....spritcer...... i didn't want to mix, i have a very week stomach, but my friends were drinking for me..... How about you... did you continue this tradition in there?........ Hehe, no, I don't actually drink alcohol, I only drink water. I don't smoke either. Some traditions are better left forgotten.

I had a feeling they may have been Serbian memorials. Thanks.
Someone decided to post a video too. They really do look good those statues.

That is one thing, I have to say, that I do not like. That big cross. It just somehow seems too flashy and I don't understand it's purpose.
I'm not religious though so that might explain why I don't like it.

I'm not religious though so that might explain why I don't like it. I do not see it like that...... It was built for existence of Christianity for 2 millenniums... and i do not know if there were hidden intentions.....but now it is not just a cross.... and people rarely connect it with Christianity... i mean they now what means a cross.... but when they go up there the haven't any religious thoughts.... it is significant for the fresh air (1000m)..... the view from ground and up in it...... relaxation..... clear thoughts..... so i do not see it just like a cross.... there is an elevator..... and a restaurant.....now the air gondolas.... even Muslims, if want... will visit... the cross is nothing which could offend someone..... i am seeing it like a sky tower....

Personally I don't like the cross. I don't see it as necessary especially when they are built to be seen around the whole city (i.e.the one in Shkup.) I'm also assuming it was financed with tax dollars as well which makes the establishment of the cross even worst IMO, but I could be wrong on the financing part.
Personally all these religious buildings are getting annoying. Instead of being used as means as place of worship, they are political tools show dominance on both sides. I can speak for the Mosque that there are too many of them and most of them are empty except a few days a year.

My, my...you intend to live with eagles and witness the colapse of all those malls you have posted? ;D Lol, I admit, it's an unusual thing, especially for someone from the Balkans to not drink alcohol. Even here in Australia, people think it's odd not to drink. But, I do what I want, not what people expect.

Of course, it is your choice. But I do think that in a proper atmosphere and the proper company you wouldn't be so firm on such an opinion

I can speak for the Mosque that there are too many of them and most of them are empty except a few days a year. See, I agree with you here. Instead of a giant cross, they could have built some other monument that was much prettier, and that would not turn off someone of another faith, or no faith at all. A big Hollywood style sign reading "Skopje" would have been a better idea. Though even that's tacky. Having said that though, I do admit that many Macedonians are actually very religious, and crosses and churches actually mean something to them. My cousin even looked at me funny when we walked into a church in Ohrid and I didn't cross myself.

Not really I mean, the Balkans have this atmosphere that predisposes someone to long long hours of drinking, eating and singing, something you can not find in any other place. As for the girl...what would you do then if she doesn't drink?

No, I'm saying if she wanted me to drink to get her in the mood then yes, I would. If she doesn't drink then all the better.
Oh and what you describe as a Balkan custom is actually very common in other countries too. I think the Russians are probably even more predisposed to such actions, hehe.

I disagree. I am talking about long hours, not getting pis.sed after 3-4 glasses of vodka, drunk bottom up. This is not the point. It is not the Russian only, though. Poles are even worse. They drink to get wasted, not to get any pleasure from the food and drinks.
