Chile, Haiti, Taiwan, and now Turkey. So many earthquakes in such a short time. Could there be some kind of tragedy really looming over the planet? Is 2012 when all the tragedies start or is it when they end?

I hope there's no earthquake of anything over 6 on the Richter scale in Albania cause it's gonna be cataclysmic. As for Chile they've had worse before as I believe they have the record for the most devastating earthquake ever at 9.6 Richter.

A seismologist in Greece waits an earthquake over 6.0 in the following one two weeks...lets see. A 6.0 would be ok. An over 6.5 will cause problems. check the party in our area...

As ive said before, the Mayan calendar stopped at 2012 because their civilization died out due to famine. If they cant predict the end of their own civilization then they cant predict the end of the world..

We always will have earthquakes since we live in tectonic plates floating on magma, but the number of them lately has been a little bit more than we can live with. But the USGS says that there is nothing to worry about, because it's us that are paying to much attention to them: Are Earthquakes Really on the Increase? We continue to be asked by many people throughout the world if earthquakes are on the increase. Although it may seem that we are having more earthquakes, earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or greater have remained fairly constant.
A partial explanation may lie in the fact that in the last twenty years, we have definitely had an increase in the number of earthquakes we have been able to locate each year. This is because of the tremendous increase in the number of seismograph stations in the world and the many improvements in global communications. In 1931, there were about 350 stations operating in the world; today, there are more than 8,000 stations and the data now comes in rapidly from these stations by electronic mail, internet and satellite. This increase in the number of stations and the more timely receipt of data has allowed us and other seismological centers to locate earthquakes more rapidly and to locate many small earthquakes which were undetected in earlier years. The NEIC now locates about 20,000 earthquakes each year or approximately 50 per day. Also, because of the improvements in communications and the increased interest in the environment and natural disasters, the public now learns about more earthquakes.
According to long-term records (since about 1900), we expect about 17 major earthquakes (7.0 - 7.9) and one great earthquake (8.0 or above) in any given year. LinkyBut then again, don't expect the government to tell you the truth even if it is 24 hours away...

Is 2012 when all the tragedies start or is it when they end? Not a single scientific proof so far have been confirmed, but quite on contrary. 2012 in Mayan calendar signifies "end of old and coming of new age" as it completes period of 1 baktun(144.000 earth days), to be exact Earth will enter in 14th baktun, and thus the change will come. This will also mean that all planets and the Sun will be forming one line, like in picture below Earthquakes signifies that Earth is alive, if there were no earthquakes Earth would be flat circular rock with or without liquid or gas. If you are scared of earthquakes, then these are the potential earthquake zones: www.fr.ch/ecab/sismo/images/Europe.jpgSo no worries if you don't live there ;D
