Explain me this you smartasses ;D how does the helicopter fly when the blades aren't moving?
This could take 54 pages.

its not really flying, its slowly gliding downwards while the back propeller is gliding it around slightly..?

its not really flying, its slowly gliding downwards while the back propeller is gliding it around slightly..? Nope, the rotor is just doing what it’s supposed to be doing. But it does give you a clue if you think about it. In fact, there is another clue if you just listen. Here’s some background. A chopper cannot ‘glide’ in the air the way an airplane does. A plane generates lift through its fixed wings slicing through the air as the plane moves forward, the engines provide the forward push and the wings provide the lift. But a chopper needs for its blades (wings) to rotate and bite in the air to generate lift, so the rotor turns the blades which in turn provide lift. The two actions are separated in a fixed winged aircraft (aka airplane), even if you cut the engines off you can still have lift if you have forward momentum (or altitude), and so you are able to glide. If you cut the engine off in a chopper, blades stop turning and you have NO lift, and you’ll find yourself in a quick spiral towards a hot and hard landing.

^Seeing as one can hear the blades rotating and that it wouldn't be able to be in the air or even gain any altitude in mid-air as it does; could it be that it's the camera?
If the blades are rotating too fast for the camera to record the motion then it will look like the helicopter is flying without the blades, but they are as one can hear them and because it would be impossible for the helicopter otherwise. The tail-rotor is still rotating but that's because the tail-rotor normally rotates slower anyways or else it would make the flight of the helicopter unstable. Am I right?

Hey man, the answer was not supposed to come up till we reached page 100. But your observations are correct. You can hear the rotor running even though you can’t see the blades turning. Additionally, you can see the tail rotor spinning, which is a big clue. While the chopper’s main blades are turning to generate lift, they also create a torque force in the opposite direction (since no isolated force can exist in nature), and this torque would normally send the chopper spinning the other way. That’s why you need the tail rotor working to counter the torque of the main engine. Here the reason we don’t see the blades spin is because their rotation speed is in synch with the filming frames, creating the illusion of stationary blades. Same reason wagon wheels seem to be turning backwards in cowboy movies. I believe it’s some form of aliasing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagon-wheel_effect
