Didnt know these maps yet...interesting. Its written in satiric language...and in rhymes...if I would translate it literally it wouldnt make really sense..thus I will give a analogous translation. On the left..."The Serb wants an access to the sea...the 'Italiano' does annoy that a lot." then Greece: "The Greek looks unhurried but severe at all changes" (a reference to Greece's primary total neutrality) Turkey: "The sick man at the golden horn hasnt lost his appetite yet. His neighbours look at him in wonder...'we better leave him alone'" ...the neighbours say. Romania and Bulgaria: "Between these two neighbours no changes have taken place yet, fortunately".

This one is also nice... "Greece and Turkey want to eat each other up...Bulgaria wants to have a share."

...thanks... yes the last is interesting. i suppose the "pig Serbia" is because of the stereotype that Serbs are mainly pig herders. I wonder what he means with the guy in Albania with the two bags.

It has to do with the antiserb attitude of that time...I cant translate it into English...sth like in Greek.."Maurowounio..achristi fara...Servia...gourounisia fara." To "gourouni" sta Germanika einai ipotimitiki leksi...pio kala sta Ellinika tha metafrazontan os "ktinodis fara".
As for the two luggages of Albania..."The King of Durazzo is leaving his people"...in whatever context this might stand...

It's a reference to Prince Wilhelm of Wied who was the temporary "King" of Albania. The reason it says "King of Durazzo" (i.e. Durrës) is because his influence was very restricted within the temporary capital and the immediate vicinity. His power was undermined by internal and external political factors and he never really established himself as a true sovereign; the country was in war, Greek andartes operated in the south, WWI broke out and so after just some six months or so of "rule", he packed his bags and left the country.

I guess that's what people did before they could make youtube videos. Neat though.
