Espescially ironic and tragic the fact he was going over there to commermate the Katyn massacre of Polish troops in WW2. Thousands of Polish elite massacred and today another great tragedy. I still cant believe it...

Terrible tragedy. As an airline pilot for more then thirty years I must say I am shocked that elite Polish Air Force pilots can make kind of mistake they apparently did . It looks they made four attempts to land on the airport well bellow weather minimums for non precision approach that was most likely in use in Russian Air Force base. Visibility was only 500 m which is only good for cat II or cat III approaches and that is something Russian Air Force base wouldn’t have. I would be very much suppressed if they have even cat I as their primary approach is double beckon requiring at least 1000m visibility. How they can even dispatch flight to airport closed for meteorological reasons. It might be that they were using GPS approach (Satellite navigation) primarily or as a supplement , what would be illegal and irresponsible. Most Airlines limited number of approaches before compulsory diversion to an alternate to 2, for many good reasons , like pilot’s fatigue, fuel…… They apparently made four attempts and ignored ATC suggestion to divert and in the last fatal approach even ATC order for go-around. It looks like gross failure of CRM (cockpit resource management) that could have happened if Captain was very senior military rank and more junior first officer who dare not to say too much. This tragedy will probably lead to many discussions about VIP pilots training, experience and paring as well as regulations governing those flights .

RIP.
I've been doing a lot of flying lately in small aircraft and it can get pretty scary. Last year though I was in a 747 and it was about to last when it hit really really really bad turbulence less than 100m above ground. I thought we were going to crash for sure & we would have if the pilot didn't pull up what felt like vertical in the last few seconds and do another fly around before landing.

Word has it that Lech was insisting the pilot to land in Smolensk. He thought the russians were trying to trick him to land in Moscow or Minsk in order to sideline the landing near Katyn. Seems like balkan folk arent the only ones with high distrust and sensitivities. Sometimes pride can really take the best of you. The russians though have been very good throughout this. Hopefully relations will take a turn for the better after this tragic event.

It is good for Poland that this moron died.
He stood in the way of making Poland truly European and superior!

I wouldnt say that Hellboy. He was a die hard christian catholic and went against capatilistic tendencies. He was good for Poland. I may not have agreed with his policies when the US invaded Iraq and the kidnapping of suspected terrorists, but he was strong. In today's world we need more ppl like him.
Bascially he was for Christianity, Poland and Family...you cant go wrong with that.

The economic part is a grey area.I dont know where to stand I think.
But bottom line is,he is a social conservative,a moron,an assh*le.
I cant believe the nation is mourning him and thousands turn up for his funeral.
I was expecting parodies.I thought maybe someone will gatecrash the funeral and say something like heeeeeyyyy he's not dead yet! look! Here he(his twin brother) is! The bugger is hiding and here to see the public response...........And also egg, vege and fruit throwing to his coffin and the car that was transporting him.
