How the world looked like back then and how it looks like now. Had to censor Brazil and Hungary due to NSFW material. The pic for Brazil is actually a she-male and for Hungary... I guess you know what it is.

It's all stupid. When it comes to USA, you take a movie idol and compare him to today's youth. You either compare a movie idol from the past to a movie idol from the present; or you compare the youth of that day to the youth of today. That't not to say that there isn't a change, or even a degradation in morals and culture between generations. That argument is justified, but you don't debate the issue by posting some random photos which you think fit your view of the world.
I don't know what kind of stereotyping this is, but it's all bad. If you created it, I think you should delete it.

I laughed the most at Finland and Hungary.
The Polish "then and now", is that a Nazi salute? Funny, because the level of racism seems ridiculous in that country. I have a friend who studies medicine in Lublin, his origins are from te Philippines, and every time he comes home to visit, there is like some new story of how either he or some of his darkskinned friends have been assaulted, robbed, harassed ... alot of them have had the shyt beaten out of them for staring at Polish girls & flirting with them etc. With my friends, it's like the old Greek saying, "Libya always bears smth evil", just switch Libya with Poland ;D
No offense Chalkedon!

As a Greek, you should've felt at home in that crowd, but I don't understand what makes it depressing. Mexicans are native to large parts of USA, so their presence should be of no surprise to you.

But still,I find America bowing down too much to them.Hopefully its just in areas where Anglo-America stole from Mexico.

Look at the map, then look further down south that same map. Hispanics have half a hemisphere to live in. America was founded by european immigrants. That is what makes it depressing today. Hellboy, you are correct. Too much catering to these ppl. @ donnie...no offense taken. I have few relatives that are old school chicago cops. If Poland is anything like them, then I feel their pain... ;D

How does that make it depressing? America was founded by a British elite: the land compromised many people, out of which most were at one time or another discriminated against.
- Native Americans: discriminated, forced assimilation, genocide
- Irish: discriminated, declared an inferior race
- Germans: discriminated--mostly due to their opposition to the prohibition but also because some were of darker skin complex.
- Chinese, Japanese, other Asians.
- Italians: many Italians were not counted as white (altough Caucasian) and intermarriages were discouraged. Furthermore, white people and Italians were at first segregated.
- Jews: anti-semetism was the norm before WW2.
- Greeks: Bibleriot posted several interesting sources describing the discrimination the Greeks in America had to endure: because of their darker appearance and because of their religion.
- Mexicans.
- African-Americans.
Religious based: Catholicism; Islam.
So as you can see, the list is very long and much more could be added to it. As time passed, America progressed and society grew more tolerant and cosmopolitan.
The core of the American culture was Anglo-Saxon Protestantism but, as America expanded with the idea of Divine Manifestation, they incorporated other countries and people: Spanish, French, Mexican, Russian. With their import was black slaves, their civilization would forever be changed. All of these were choices that they made and, like any other great power, they were influenced by the cultures that they absorbed. Just like Hellenism in Asia--a mix of Hellenic and Mesopotamian-Persian cultures; or the Roman Empire; or the Ottoman Empire.
So I ask again: what do you find depressing? That Greeks are no longer discriminated against or that people that you choose to dislike are no longer discriminated against?
As for your old fashion cops in Chicago: yes, old fashion stands for corrupt, incultivated and racist. Nothing to brag about. Eliot Ness, an exceptionally man of principles, found it very difficult to outmanoeuvre all the corrupted cops that were in the force.
Lastly, I will say this: the kind of racism that you subtly address in this post is not a part of our original East Roman Empire (Byzantine) culture. On the contrary, it was imported from other trashy areas of the world. And now you and the Two Chubbies (three, if we count the young German lawyer) believe that being a racist is being protective of one's herritage. That is not the case.

No it was founded by the religous persecuted. and yes it was from many different ppl over the time and everybody was discriminated at. As far as Native Americans. They do not have a balkan mentality. If they did they would cry out genocide every year for the past 250 years. Instead they are contempt of getting boozed up in their reservation camps. Most of them are pround " Americans" go figure. So even if you and I know they had a great injustice done against them. They themselves seem not to care to much about it. And yes, Irish, Greeks, Poles all of them were discriminated and even to this day we have ethnic jokes. Only difference is we worked hard and rose above it. Today we joke about it. It was the immigrant mentality that made America great. I dont agree with that assessment. Its not like that. America said give me your poor, downtrodden and sick or smthg to that nature. Basically it was all the rejects from their home countries that wanted to have a better life. So I ask again: what do you find depressing? That Greeks are no longer discriminated against or that people that you choose to dislike are no longer discriminated against? What i find depressing is the regression of american values and the catering to other ppl. Instead of like it was in the old days where we had to adjust to survive in America. Today America adjusts to the others...You went off on a tangent. My problem is not with ethnic groups, Its not like I lived in the South during the 1800's. Im only talking about the last 15 yrs or so. I dont have problems with Blacks or Hispanics. I have a problem of having spanish on the god damn telephones and signs. As for your old fashion cops in Chicago: yes, old fashion stands for corrupt, incultivated and racist. Nothing to brag about. Eliot Ness, an exceptionally man of principles, found it very difficult to outmanoeuvre all the corrupted cops that were in the force. Annitas, your out of your element mate. You wouldnt last a week in humboldt park. Im not talking about cops you see on youtube tasering old ladies and beating on motorists. Im talking about hardworking cops that see everyday injustice and offenders getting off on technicalities. As far as racist, of course they poke fun at some of the things they see everyday. Thats the only way to get through the day. Your overreaching...
