Frankly I am embarrassed by Greece going down the tubes.... We have become the joke of the world.... I would suggest we never again mock our neighbors ...they had to endure years of communism ...we had a good grasp of things ... and blown it all away....We have been reduced to 3rd world status..... Our politicians should be all drawn and quartered... and have outsiders brought in to take over..... wait a second ,the IMF is the boss now.... so there we have lost our sovereignty... read on in disgust My uncle lost his shirt trying to build a 70 room hotel in Chios back in 92..... He was basically left with nothing....lost 4 million out of pocket cash...While the local govts sat doing nothing....but asking for more money....

Hey guys don't blame us... we had a good time 30 years now... lol
Seriously now... Its our fault generally. The voters. Every single Greek have been wasteful with the public servants first and basically.
After the shock we pass all these months... which hasn't really touched our pockets yet... we are going to be more close to common sense.
But by this events during these months I realised that Greek economy is pretty important in the world's arena... i am bored to read articles and watch video-news in bloomberg, bbc, bild, ft, economist etc etc about our things...
I think in Greece its pretty easy for the government to make changes in the structure of our economy and see rapidly menage in our things.
Did you know that till today all the non married daughters of civil servants had the right and received the pension of their father or mother if they died... about 40.000 women took that pension of about 800-1000 e... that means that a daughter of 40 years that lost her parents could take this pension for 30-40 years despite the fact that she never worked..............
Another good...fresh one. Yesterday it was announced the new system of division of the country:municipalities(demoi), nomarchies, peripheries etc etc... from about 1100 demoi it would be from the next elections(this year) about 360... that means in numbers about 1.8 billion euros each year saved...
Its almost sure that the civil servants will lose their 13th-14th salaries... thats about 2 billions...
btw...read the response of a skopianos in the article that Kanaris posted...lol

If the others in Greece believe the same thing, I must say that Greece is more fuked up then most people think. Greece makes up only 3% of the European economy, how can that be too important for the world economy when already it's not for Europe?
The reason that Europe is concerned about the Greeks financial crisis, is its currency, Euro, not Greece, because a weak and volatile Euro for Europe means the Euro won't be anymore attractive for foreign markets, and the main reason the fears that this deep crisis will spread beyond Greece, in Portugal, Italy and Spain, which already aren't doing that well. And of course the political aspect, the political stability of EU concerns Brussels too, because usually after economic troubles, the political ones follow. If it wasn't for these reasons, Greece would had been kicked out of the EU in no time.
USA on the other hand is concerned about the Euro too, because a weak Euro means less American exports to Europe, less sales, less profits, and more important, a financially unstable Europe will seriously hurt the American exports.
If you guys don't take it seriously this time, you'll be kicked out of EU, and nobody will give a rats a$$ about you anymore, no matter how important you think you are...real life sucks, it doesn't care about who you were and what you did...
So stop flattering yourself...I think for Greeks the time flattering with themselves has gone for good...you better start watching several times the movie "Thanasis, tighten your belt"...it's greek movie afterall...

Precisely in a nutshell... I remember when I couldn't find a ticket to fly to Greece.... everything was backed up 6 to 8 months.... this was when the Drachma was king...Everyone was happy, the Greeks thought we can get on the Euro bandwagon... and be rich.... I want the drachma back...this way we can get our freedom back....

Vlepo stin pragmatikotita ti simainei na thigetai to philotimo tou Ellina, kai poso kala antidraei... btw mpravo mas... A state that satisfy the greed of its people its mathematically sure that would have to face problems after a while...and thats what is going on now. I'm satisfied, and also dissapointed for the austerity measures taken by the government. Satisfied because we just follow the common sense that had eclipsed the last decades(the truth is from Andreas Papandreou and after...), and dissapointed because we haven't done anything the last years maybe because all were benefited from this party... ALL... The good thing is that Greeks have money and fortune, the state isn't in good shape... if we, the people, had the same problems with the state it would be dangerous...now we can go to bouzoukia in Saturday and ask for receipt to save the country lol lol... i wonder how we will ask for receipts in bouzoukia in 6 a.m.... Seriously now, the people here started to react more logically in governments measures. For example if last year the government announced a reduction of the wages of 1-2% we would have a revolution... now especially the public servants would wish to had such scale reductions from the new ones...

We should secure our borders. With the way things are going we might be having Greeks trying to pass the border. That is very bad news as they're used to so much entitlements and not used to working. Lazy bastards. Only when they're immigrants around the world they work, in Greece they sit on their lazy a$$es and beg the Germans for money. Then we'd have to borrow billions and then we'd have to beg Germany to loan them to us. Good thing we dont have islands to sell. Meybe Greeks should sell Lesbos to Germany or that other gay Island as well. They'll figure something out. Its a win-win situation.

Leshte, this is not an invitation for you to blabber your big trap ...you have something constructive to say? A far as I am concerned the albos took a big share of the same money... 95% of the Albs working in Greece pay no tax....
Greece didn't beg anyone and no one is helping Greece... they are helping themselves.... Why don't they throw the country out of the Eurozone? Why did they accept Greece back in 1980?

95% of the Albs working in Greece pay no tax.... Why don't they throw the country out of the Eurozone? Why did they accept Greece back in 1980? Why should they when everybody else does not? I'm not the type who would kick somebody when he is down. Regardless of what historical enemies Greeks have been to Albanians. Anyways you guys are our neighbors. I would like to see Greece get better and out of this situation. Because it affects the whole region. It will indirectly affect Albania as well. So I stopped celebrating the first day. Those who really wish harm are still doing so. Why did EU accept in 1980? Because EU then was a different organization. The realities of the cold war era and gaining more allies. Today there is harsher conditions to join such an organization.

The first thing we should have done is to kick all the Alvanous out... don't worry guys... and more correctly, don't be happy in the balkanic way... We're not happy, because you're are our neighbors, but you've got to stop that greek way of talking, like Greece is the center of the world and the world can't live without Greece...this childish attitude brought your country to its knees, and the future generations will pay for their parents and grandparents financial irresponsibility...including your bouzoukia...

C'mon Kanaris you're so sensitive. You're the first one to make jokes on others and the first one to get all sensitive. You leave no chance to tease us yet now we can't tease you. I mean even if you don't like the jokes you know this was coming. Relax a little.

Guys, don't worry about what vardarians, albanians or turks think. In my opinion Greece will get out of this, but before it does, l believe past politicans should be made accountable of this, like karamanlis? and be put in jail.

The ones that should be put in jail are the ones that are governing right now...they started the s.hit....since 1981 with the father of our "great" current prime minister. These are the true criminals.....they were constantly blowing sunshine up the peoples' ass....with money that wasnt ours....the conservative party didnt get rid of the problems out of fear of the voters...and opportunism, since the people wasnt willing to face the truth at that time yet...thats the great frailty of democracy.
