nice city, one of the old bulgarian capitals... also it had a significant role in forming Bulgarian culture, I can say its (or probably was) one of the centres of bulgarian spirit... its probably the most important macedonian city in bulgarian history...

Many of those Macedonians who still identify as Bulgarians are from there. Great city indeed.

From what I understand he's from Skopje. Judging by his posts, I doubt that he has ancestors from Ohrid.. he seems to think that Macedonians from the south are not the same as Macedonians from North of Skopje.

How is that? In which sense? Don't listen to asen. Yes, I' am from Skopje. I just mentioned once that I believe that there is a racial progression towards more Yugoslav looking people when going from southern Macedonia towards the north.

Hard to tell actually. I've been few times in Skoplje and lot of times in Ohrid, but I really can't tell you if this statement concerning racial progression is valid or not based upon Macedonians I met in both towns. Also, I've been 2-3 times in Bitola, and even if Ohrid and Bitola are not so far by distance there is quite noticeable psychical difference between citizens of these 2 towns. Haven't been in other Macedonian cities then previously stated

Nikola is right
Northern regions will see a bigger number of dinaric looking people (or as he put is Yugoslav looking people) while southern regions like Bitola will have many Aegean people and have similar types as found in Aegean Macedonia.

what Coon states on that population on appearance of people of Macedonia can be found in bellow link www.theapricity.com/snpa/racesofeurope.htmfor those lazy The stature of the Bulgarians varies regionally from 166 cm. to 168 cm.; 133 the tallest are found in Macedonia, and also in the very northeastern part of Bulgaria. Christian Bulgars of Macedonia have a mean of 83.3, in the region of Monastir this rises to 85; Moslem Bulgars are less brachycephalic, with a mean of 80.5, while in the neighborhood of Salonika small local samples of Bulgars are actually dolichocephalic... True brachycephals are found only among the Macedonian Bulgars who live in close contact with Albanians. the Dinaric is simply the result of Bulgarian admixture with local elements in Macedonia; www.theapricity.com/snpa/chapter-XII15.htmNote: Tall and brachycephalic (wide faced) all denote dinarics like many Serbs and Albanians are. Bulgarians are mainly Mediterranean types and thus more towards true dolicochephalics (long faced).

Nikola, a while back you said that you see yourself as the same as whatever Serbs and Croats are, but the people to the south as "different". You also said that people to the south have a claim on the Ancient Macedonians. So you are either making a clear differentiation among the people of your country, or you are somewhat confused on the overall situation.

"the Dinaric is simply the result of Bulgarian admixture with local elements in Macedonia;" Aadmin, is coon referring to Turanids blending with local dolicocephalics? ?

To answer this topic before the Bulgari, as usual, relate everything back to the glorious Bulgari, l must say that Ohrid is a lovely place.

So you are either making a clear differentiation among the people of your country, or you are somewhat confused on the overall situation. Asen, I was talking about RACE. The people in the north of Macedonia (like Skopje) are racially more Dinaric (like most other Yugoslav people), while the people in the south are more Mediterranean. This does NOT mean that I see myself as a Serb and the southerners as something else. Every country has a mixture of different racial types. Even your country does. Hope this clears the issue up for you. Let me know if you need further clarification.

But it's the same everywhere on the Internet though. You can't watch a single Youtube video, without some Bulgarian uninvitedly claiming the material as theirs. What can you do...

Excuse me. We look different, of course, but in no way you can say just by by looking at a Bulgarian which region he is from. You can guess this by his local accent or dialect by not by his appearance.
