Depends what you are watching. If you are watching some of your fairy-tale stories about Alexander or Cleopatra or God speaking macedonian, there wouldn't be a single Bulgarian who would come and claim anything. A little laugh may be but not claims.

...but in no way you can say just by looking at a Bulgarian which region he is from. What you say is possibly true for Bulgaria. It's also getting more difficult even in Macedonia because people move around a lot more these days. You can guess this by his local accent or dialect by not by his appearance. Most people that I come across from Bitola (most diaspora in Melbourne are from Bitola it seems) usually guess me as a Serb or a Croat. My own countrymen can tell the difference without even hearing me speak in Macedonian.
