Turkey Tops Serbia 83-82 To Gain Final Against US Turkey Beats Serbia 83-82 To Reach Basketball World Championship Final Against US
(AP) ISTANBUL (AP) - Semih Erden blocked a last-second shot to seal Turkey's 83-82 win over Serbia in the semifinals of the basketball world championship on Saturday. Turkey will play the United States in Sunday's final. Serbia meets Lithuania for the bronze medal. Following a turnover by Phoenix Suns forward Hedo Turkoglu, Novica Velickovic dribbled in for an open layup with half a second left only to be denied by Erden. Kerem Tunceri scored eight points in a crucial 14-3 fourth-quarter run that put Turkey up 78-75 with 3:20 left.
