No, the reason for it, as they said in an interview, was the fact that King Zog had ordered that border guards allow all Jews fleeing from Central Europe to be allowed it.
Fact is, even when the Germans did their checks they found nothing.
Eitherway, this topic isnt intended for you or to prove anything to anyone. It was a documentary made by the son of a Jewish refugee and as an Albanian-Israeli production.

Related to the story Start at 0:14:00 to the end For me Besa has nothing to do with religion it is beyond religion. Besa is a code of honour, it is a word (a promise) given to someone or given for something and must be kept even unto death and it’s something to be feared if it is broken. Besa is a key theme in the novel Kush e solli Doruntinën (Who Brought Doruntina Home) (1980), by Albanian novelist Ismail Kadare. The novel in English at www.forumishqiptar.com/showthread.php?t=23264When you read this story you get an idea of what Albanian besa is. Also Follow: www.opendemocracy.net/arts/article_2114.jsp

besa has no attributable religious value, it is an albanian trait nothing religious, it has been part of our culture long before albanians converted.

Indeed, the besa has nothing to do with religious matters unlike how outsiders like to portray it. Besa is an Albanian word, but the concept of the besa it I think has existed in all people with other words and with modifications though. The only reason it was "muslim" families that saves Jews is because of the current political situation in the middle east and to make it seem more interesting.

I attended this documentary premier at the Holocaust Museum on 4/26/12. It was a great and proud day to be Albanian! I will never forget the feelings I felt watching this. Prime Minister Berisha was in attendance, and so were several other Albanian, Jewish, and American dignitaries. I have been gone from Albania for the last 13 yrs, and what an amazing event this was to attend.
