# Stevie!!
My countrymen (the Greeks) want to create a greater Bulgarian, because they think this was they get rid of the name makedonia.
I keep trying telling them in vein, that a greater Bulgarian will not stop at Salonica, but hey dont wanna hear.
We are all western puppets and believe the fairy tales.
BUT Stevie!!!
Those Pontian Greeks who came to settle in Makedonia are
a) true Greeks
b) they suffered the greatest disaster in the hands of the muslim turks
c) they had serious trouble with the locals..
As you understand, balance is very fragile in the region, and we should take all factors into consideration.
The biggest of all : RESPECT FOR EVERYONE.
There is no such a thing as the "best of the balkans".

What's this
# -- Really is that why Greece chose to "actively" take part in the ICJ proceedings? Or maybe they didn't bother because they saw that they village Orthodox brothers where at their shenanigans again and Greece's name couldn't be stained with the foolishness of others.
(johny, 26 September 2010 18:48)

Well China took part and believe me, the Chinese don't do anything foolish.
That blows you argument right out of the water.

You must've noticed also that Cyprus participated actively in the ICJ preceedings.Do you really think that Greece and Cyprus are operating in isolation from one another as far as foreign policy is concerned?
Leonidas
What lies are you spreading here?
Its not fyrom but Macedonia
Macedonians were never Bulgarian, those bulgarians want that yes! (even so Macedonians are much closer to Serbs then Bulgarians i know that.)
And furthermore are the 80% pontic greeks who live in macedonia (greece) Macdonians?
NOT... they came there from turkey 80/90 years ago. to repopulate the region from the ethnically cleansed natives (macedonians)in the 1913-1925 period.
(Stevie, 26 September 2010 20:52
The last time i checked the UN website the name that comes up is Fyrom.
Funny you say they are not Bulgarian but Skopje is full of Bulgarioan national symbols and monuments. The four lions downtown Skopje, monuments of Dame Gruev,Gotse Delchev-officers of the Bulgarian military intelligence.
If you look at the last Ottoman census of 1904 you'll see that the numbers between Greeks and Muslims in the geographical Macedonia were about equal at 600000 aproximately whereas those of Bulgarians were less than 250000.

The Greeks understanding of international law is the same as that of 120 countries that haven't given in to the demands and blackmail by the US and EU.
I was and still am of the opinion that Tadic made a huge mistake by withdrawing the original resolution from the UN.
In worst case senario he could leave kosovo as a frozen conflict, waive two fingers at EU and wait until the time is right to strike. The EU needs more Serbia than the other way round.
Anyway, what makes one think the EU will be around long enough for Serbia to join?

It seems to me that you're quite ignorant of the history
in the area.
The people who live in today's fyrom were forced to live in Yugoslavia. Before that they were self-determined Bulgarians who spoke nothing else apart from Bulgarian.Tito's aims were two fold.Firstly to separate the Bulgarian people in Yugoslavia from Bulgaria and by renaming the area as Macedonia they could start with irredentist claima against the historical Macedonia that lies exclusively within Greece.
Even today school children in Fyrom are taught that the Greek macedonia is theirs. Therefore Greece has every right to block Fyrom from joining any international club.
As the 400 accredited historians from world universities have said:
" The goverment in Skopje must understand that it cannot built a national identity at the expense of historical truth. Our common international society cannot survive when history is ignored, much less when history is fabricated".
