That painting is a figment of someones sordid imagination... of a land where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies,everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers,that grow so incredibly high. Okay I stole it from the Beatles... but it best describes your painting.

Yes,he is wearing a fustanella but is he Albanian? Very likely he is, but still I don't understand your question ! What makes you think he's not ?! Albanians constituted a large part of population of Greece in the 19th century !

Albanians constituted a large part of population of Greece in the 19th century ! not more than 10% of the south Greece population... And fustanella was worn by the majority of Greeks( and note...by the minority of Arvanites of Greece...)... so whatever the "origin of the fustanella" is...venetians, eskimoish, geg, kosovar, mongolian etc... it doesn't make the Greek who wore it venetian, eskimo, geg, lab or mongolian...just like gegs are not slavs(i'm not sure...) while wearing these polish trousers...

In my honest opinion they are giving you some more truths of the past so they can adjust your attitudes for whats to come in the next few years ..... the last sentence has a bit of truth... the point is that they are not giving "truths" but half truths and lies... in the name of the whole ridiculous thing called "greco-turkish friendship"...

whats your problem with the video 1821- a new documentary rex ?? the turks killed some native people and brough turkalbanians to peloponnese. the greeks in morea fought the turk and turkalbanians. greek armatoli and greek kleftes who fleet to the mountains came back from there to support in the greek war of independence.

Albanians constituted a large part of population of Greece in the 19th century ! I don't think many Greek people know that foustanella is traditional arvanitic outfit. What you say is right, almost. But there were not any albanians, because there was no country named "Albania" yet. There was no discrimination between greek and arvanites, who were a great part of the greek population. Arvanites fought for Greece, their country.

There is no such thing as turkalbanians! They were just arvanites who were muslim, not a different ethnicity. Arvanites were the majority of the kleftes and armatoli, and were orthodox.

Foustan = Skirt Ella(s) = Greece
Foustanella = Greek skirt or Greek in skirt or skirt of Greece
