They are still Greek even by second account. A later version of it is having as parents Polyphemus and Galatea that give birth to Celtus, Galas, and Illyrius.[13] The second myth could stem perhaps from the similarities to Celts and Gauls en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illyrians#Illyrians_in_Greek_mythologyThat is also later version thus not the original one. Nice one.

Illyrians are just another Greek tribe, just a more primitive one compared to the Athenians or Spartans.

Did you read Admin's sources above? According to the Ancient Greeks, Illyrians were not a separate people. There's no evidence to contest this.

There is no reputable scholar that proclaims Illyians to be Greeks. All evidence points to them being non-Greek, most of that evidence coming from ancient Greek sources. You guys are pathetic.

Alexander, the not so great, had the most expensive education in the history of the world, inherited an army near impossible to defeat from his father, ran around in Persia founding cities named after his hunting dogs, pushed that army so far his men mutinied on him, drank a lot and killed his good friend Cleitus and was finally defeated by a mosquito without leaving behind a clear successor, and an "empire" that didn't survive his death and was cannibalized by his generals.
Yeah, he was a Hellene ;D

Celts had their own language and southern Illyrians did not. 1) Only remains from southern Illyria were in Hellenic, coins minted in Greek, Rulers using strictly Greek terms (Vasileon Ton Illyrikon), Greek being used by Administration and as official means of communication. For more illyriancommunities.illyria.net/ 2) Phrygians came from Peonian region and their language is clearly closest by far to Greek language. It is safe to assume that their language might have sounded even more Greek-like if not outright Greek when they were back in Peonian region or even that Phyrgian is Greek without Minoan influence. 3) Mythology doesn't view Illyrians as non-Greek. 4) Strabo compared southern Illyrians to Epirus and Macedonia in terms of language, culture and religion. So either they spoke Greek (rulers and people) or Greek by rulers and Phrygian-like language by people. Either way I only see a Hellenic connection.
