what's the point of having diplomatic relations? trade between them is a measly 60 million dollars very insignificant. just renting the building for an embassy and paying staff. probably cost more money than that. having a consulate represent two or more countries would make more sense. we don't have resources to spend money in such extravagant ways. Absolutely no reason in having diplomatic missions. In places we don't have significant economic relations.
secondly not just from an economic point of view. there is no actual connection b/w them. people we don't make connection with we usually ignore from our lives. same logic should apply? no?
what do you think?

I don't know, I think we should be dimplomatic. "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" is a better logic in this case.

If you go to: www.albinvest.gov.al/click. Fact Sheet No. 3: Trade and Free Trade Agreements Serbia does not even make it Top 20... I don't know, I think we should be dimplomatic. "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" is a better logic in this case. You're saying we should "look" diplomatic. I know at this point in time we have a very immature government. But we are talking about tax payers money being wasted.

Serbia is a neighbor and one of the Blakan countries. Albania is Balkan too and in this light we need official relations. Balkan is a geografic reality and a political reality. In both above realities and in many other ones we are interwinded. Albanian communism had the crazy aproach of cutting off relations of all levels with the enemy. Well not so smart at the end. When Albania after 40 years of abstenance from international forums and bilateral relations it joined this relations; discovered that history doesn't stop just because Albania decided to take a break. Relations in official level are a necesity specifically when in the same region and neoighbors, despite the fact of love or hate.

Such a move would isolate the Albanian community in Presheva.

Give me a few facts of why such an embassy should exist? Kanada pershembul nuk ka ambasade ne Shqiperi por konsullate ne Rome. Kurse shqiperia shtet me i vogel. Dhe ne kemi me shume para?
This has nothing to do with communism. It is a proposal to have a smaller government. And have diplomatic missions in certain countries.
The opposite of communism.

Serbia is a powerful player in the Balkans, you can't just break relations with them. At this point we should do our best to mend relations with all of our neighbors while consolidating our economy.

Such a move would isolate the Albanian community in Presheva. Kosovo should represent that (it is an independent state afterall).

so? albania is a top destination in lonely planet's shortlist, what does that really mean? Well it means that Serbia's economy is pretty powerful although not as pwoerful as Slovenia's of Croatia's yet. Point is it's silly to break relations with Serbia.

apples are green too you know?
the point: you have relation with countries you trade or have some sort of vested interest.

well its not because their arms exports have increased, that's a positive trend perhaps, but i wouldn't go as far as to say they're powerful, just like you can't go by albania's mention in lonely planet's top ten destination countries as an indicator that we are all the sudden uplifted from poverty and are becoming economically superior,
i don't think we should cut ties off or anything

Drinus123 you're in dire need of a dictionary. Look up the term diplomatic. Sometimes we can't cut off certain people from our lives, no matter how much we want to. Serbs would fit under this category.

Why? Because you need an enemy to give meaning to your life?

You might. It does not concern me if you need an enemy to give meaning. What concerns me is having a pointless embassy. In which my people have to pay taxes for at the end.
