Health "tourism"... According to health minister mr Loverdos, poor immigrants with no insurance cost to the greek health system about 150 millions euros each year, even now,in times of crisis. As he says, besides the immigrants, buses with visiting patients come from the neighboring countries during the night even to give birth to their kids and pay nothing. There is also a problem with African immigrants who suffer from AIDS.There are about 6.000 AIDS patients in Greece, mostly drug addicts and African immigrants who cost a lot of money to the public health system. He wonders if this is a matter of solidarity to fellow humans or if we just behave like suckers. On the other hand he also says that we would never deny to provide help to any serious case.Btw,do people from some neighboring countries appreciate the help which is being provided to them by our hospitals,or... There are certain people in here who accuse Greece of being racistic allthough they havent any immigrant population in their own country what so ever and this is quite nasty...

Our?The people's responsibility?Certainly not.The government's responsibility?I concur. The migration policy was wrong since the beggining.A non industrial country of 10 millions should not have 2 millions immigrants,it's not logical. And i'm anxiously waiting for the day when every other balkan nation will have to accept a large immigrant population. Then we may have further talking on this issue.

Was the system designed for us to serve it, or rather for it to serve us?

The ambulance should keep going all the way to the border with Albania then drop them off there.

This is so weird I have cousins in Greece and they seem to be doing fine. None of them have left the country now but I'm guessing they didn't get to being so "fine" by legal means.

It was in a UK newspaper article! they said that there aren't any auto doors to the tube system, the people are expected to press there tickets out of goodwill and jump in the train. However, if they don't there isn't a way to know!
I have a friend in Athens and he is really mad at all the shi.t going on. He says the politicians messed everybody up.

I know what you mean.... My son entered it and didn't know where to pay... so later an inspector asked him for his ticket and he said I didn't know where to pay... next thing you know he gave him a ticket for 100 e..... Most of the local people have monthly passes... the tourists get burned by these fines the inspectors give..

i have read that a few thousands dead people-or simply some of their relatives-still take their pension money...the government is taking measures to control the situation.Once per year all of the pensioners will have to prove that they are still alive by visiting the authorities...
Also, many foreign women have married pensioners of the public sector-that's lots of money-and after the old man dies, they have the right to receive his pension...Many old suckers want to believe that a 40 y.o foreign woman is in love with them.. ;D
The sure thing is that many things should change in Greece...But not so strict measures like the new taxes, this is way too much...

You have literally to .... take a taxi to this one and only "periptero" which sells Bus tickets, to be able to actually take the bus. The driver does not issue any tickets. Bus for the airport is another story. But then again, in Greece every 100 meters ... is another story. I think in the balkans we must have the lowest degree of integration.

OTOH, i don't remember ever utilizing IKA services for my self or any member of my family, we pay 1000s of euros annually for medical care, i contribute to IKA heavily, yet i have not taken anything back from them. Why? Because they would ask me to lose days of my job to go and visit their doctors. Also there is smth called like IKA "family doctor". Never seen him/her, whoever he/she is. From doctors of course we rarely receive receipts.
