First i agree completely that there is a big difference between western and eastern turks western turks overwhelmingly are made of Balkan people (Albanian, Greeks, Bosnian Bulgarians and so on), izmir bursa istanbul are basically european cites the eastern part is made of kurds and and arabs. Second turks are a people of central asia like kazakhs or uzbeks but like 1 or 2 percent of people in turkey even look remotley central asian. Most are the indo european speaking peoples of annatolia like the hittiteas and balkan peoples.in western turkey but there army while conquering the balkans where made up of middle asterns Second look at this map the Turks did settle in Balkans mainly in flat farmland like Macedonia and Bulgaria and Greece. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Balkans-ethnic_(1861).jpgLooking at the Turkish National Football Team, which should be rather representative, it's obvious there are more than enough Asiatic genes in Turks. You don't need genetic studies. As always a picture make for a thousand words or a thousand pseudo-scientific studies. But more important than the mongoloid features, they don't look European. Maybe some of them look remotely European, they can be mistaken for some European from the periphery but they couldn't be mistaken for a typical European. Apart from that, looking how some Turks (Uighurs) from China look, Turks weren't all mongoloids.

That's the Turkish football team? I could swear it was the Bulgarian football team. If you believe that guy who wrote that Turks are a mixture of assimilated Bulgarians, Greeks and Albanians, you could say some of those above are Bulgarians. I say the 4th guy in the top row looks like a Bulgarian.

Well, it depends on the Yani Ceris look at Ataturk he is hardly ''Asianic'' looking Jamal Pasha Shah Ismail many Turks had Balkan roots Mehmet 2 I could go on and on. Probably four or five of them could fit in Southern Europe

Coon said Serbs were darker but not shorther. He made a point of it note that Serbs tend to be taller. No, he pointed out that Serbs were both darker and shorter, according to him Bosnian Croats were the tallest of the Bosnians. As for the national means, Croatia and Bosnia had taller averages than Serbia. The only taller and lighter people among the Serbs were the Montenegrins according to Coon, but then again, according to him the Montenegrins are nothing but Slavicized Albanians. If he truly made a point of note that Serbs tended to be taller then you might as well give me a source as he doesn't seem to be of that opinion in 'The Races of Europe'.

I'm a Bosnian Croat from the South-Mid western part of BiH ( Livno , Tomislavgrad) & my mother's side hails from Grude. I am 6'2" with blue eyes , light skin , and dark blonde thick hair.
90% of my father's side is blue eyed , about 70% light hair , and maybe 60% over six feet tall.
Nearly 100% of my mother's side has blue or green eyes , 90% light hair , and maybe 90% of the males are over six feet tall. The extreme light features on my mothers side could also be from my grandmother who is of ukrainian extraction and very light.
Most Bosnians I know are Bosnian Croats and I am usually on the short side in terms of height compared to them. My cousins are Bosnian Croat/Serb mix and taller than me. I have a Bosniak friend who is much taller than I. Of all the Bosnians and Dalmatians I know I am either on the shorter side or average. Compared to random white people of mixed European descent I know in the states I am usually taller.
