serbs were continual refugees in the austro-hungarian empire after the 17th century, and gasterbeiters during communism, hence our large numbers in austria, hungary, slovenia and germany. When the Turks started invading southern Serbia many Serbs moved north into Hungary, there was quite a significant influx of Serbs into Hungary at that time. One of Hungary's most well known nationalist poets and freedom fighters "Petofi Sandor " ...aka Alex Petrovic, wasa Hungarian of Serb stock.
