i keep hearing different version of where eels come from actually, i was in alb and we had an endless debate with fishing connoisseurs, they say that how is it possible u can find them in muddy lakes and people have seen eels in water wells as well, they dug up a hole for the well and in the mud they saw eels, their theory is that they know these underground currents of water and they travel through them...not sure what to make of it,
discuss.

and to Hellenas and a few others (canaris knows)...this is why I say we could be cousins ...I acknowledge it you cant/wont Stop posting moron all these nonsense from paid anti-Greeks, leftists, Nordicists and other illiterate people who are in complete ignorance. These stupid statements have revised here and a long time by modern science such as Genetics. Greek autosomal DNAA striking demonstration of the persistence of the Greek genetic signature through time can be found in [1]. The figure on the right is the 4th principal component of variation in Europe and shows a strong cline centered in Greece. Not only is the Greek genetic legacy clearly detectible today, but it is detectible among not only the Greeks, but all their neighboring populations of partial Greek ancestry:THE FOURTH is strongly reminiscent of Greek colonization in the first millennium B.C. racialreality.110mb.com/genetic_variation.htmlStanford University of U.S.A-Pavia university of Italy research of greek DNA.Summary: 1) The DNA make-up of today's Greeks is 99.5% white. The study cliams that today's Greek has 99.5% the same DNA make-up as as the white Greeks of ancient times. 2) Contrary to beliefs by many in Turkey and certain Slavic nations of ex-Yugoslavia, Greek DNA has not been influenced, nor altered, by the mixture of Slavic or Turkish DNA, even though Ottomans ruled a large part of Greece for 400 years. 3) Out of a sample of 925 modern-day Greek DNA, only 0.4% exhibited non-white DNA. 4) To a large extenet, Greeks of the ancient time "transfered" their DNA to other parts of Europe through their conquests. The study showed that, today, Greek DNA is most similar to: a) Italian DNA, b) French DNA, c) Spanish DNA, d) Turkish DNA. 5) The DNA of Italians in modern day southern Italy is the closest match to the DNA of their Greek neighbors.28 different European and American universities under the leadership of Cambridge Universite have prove that modern Greeks have the same DNA like Ancient Greeks and that the Greeks descend from the Greeks of antiquity who lived inside of Greece and outside of Greece, our neighbors are racially, partly, pretty Greeks. In numbers, 98% of modern Greeks descend from people who had Greek DNA and only 2% from people who had non-Greek DNA. Very soon these studies will see the light. Wikipedia. the Albanians originated north of the Jirecek Line, further north and inland than the current borders of Albania suggest. The Albanians first appear in the historical record in Byzantine sources of the late 11th century. The Albanians albanized the Greeks of north Epiros and settled on our grounds. Typical Albanian practice: ALBANIZATION.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albanisation"Minority status was limited to those who lived in 99 villages in the southern border areas, thereby excluding important concentrations of Greek settlement in Vlora (perhaps 8,000 people in 1994) and in adjoining areas along the coast, ancestral Greek towns such as Himara, and ethnic Greeks living elsewhere throughout the country. Mixed villages outside this designated zone, even those with a clear majority of ethnic Greeks, were not considered minority areas and therefore were denied any Greek language cultural or educational provisions. In addition, many Greeks were forcibly removed from the minority zones to other parts of the country as a product of communist population policy, an important and constant element of which was to preempt ethnic sources of political dissent. Greek place-names were changed to Albanian names, while use of the Greek language, prohibited everywhere outside the minority zones, was prohibited for many official purposes within them as well."[9]
9.^ a b c G97 T.J. Winnifrith (2003), Badlands-Borderland: A History of Southern Albania/Northern Epirus, ISBN 0-7156-3201-9, p. 138. Quote: "Under King Zog, the Greek villages suffered considerable repression, including the forcible closure of Greek-language schools in 1933-1934 and the ordering of Greek Orthodox monasteries to accept mentally sick individuals as inmates." and "On the other hand under Hoxha there were draconian measures to keep Greek-speakers loyal to Albania. Albanian rather than Greek history was taught in schools."Arvanites anthropologically Hellenes. In anthropological studies of Theodoros K. Pizziou, the Aegean population Arvanites are different morphologically and to their characters compared with the Albanians. It states: "The examination of these groups (Arvanitofonon), one in Messenia, one and two in Argolis Korinthia showed that in no way stand out from the total population of the Peloponnese or from neighboring groups. In any of the ninety maps features designed not resemble each other more than with their neighboring geographical groups. Also, the statistical dendrogrammata, simultaneous comparison of several features not arvanitofones groups separated from the rest of the Peloponnese. This research shows that the Arvanites were only Hellenes.Dr. Theodoros Pitsios received his graduate degree in Physical Anthropology, with a minor in Genetics and Paleontology, from the Johannes Gutenberg Universität of Mainz, in Germany, from which institution he was later awarded his PhD in Natural Sciences. anthropology-museum.med.uoa.gr/1ceng.htmThe Arvanites are Hellenes. The Arvanites have nothing to do with Albanians, the Arvanites came from Arvanon or Arvana of centeral/southern modern Albania. This area always called New Epiros and inhabited by Hellenic populations. The Albanian state is a construction of the big powers of that time(1912) and never before in history existed any country or any people in the Balkans called "Abania" or "Albanians"(only in Caucasos there is a country called Albania). Even the name "Albania" cames from the word "Albani" which means CHEAT. Said the Arvanite Dr. of Literature Petros Fourikes. The Arvanites were albanized Greeks with a small admixture of Tosk. Arvanites came from the Greek lands of Arvana in albanized Greek North Epiros. Most of Arvanites after the Greek revolution went in Calabria & Sicily along with Greek Maniates, so not much Arvanites remained in Greece. Also there is a misunderstanding with the Arvanites, many Greeks during the Turkish occupation "played" the Arvanites so to avoid the persecution of the Turks(the masters of the Turkalbans), so you have Greeks speaking "Arvanite" and dressing like Arvanites even if they were 100% Greeks. Many Greek Peloponnesians also spoke Arvanite so to speak with the Arvanites and some Athenian traditional garments(like the white shirt) confused with the Arvanite shirts by non-Greek travelers(that's why they said that no Greeks remained in Athens). The Arvanites found identical racially to southern Greeks, they are different racially from Albanians and belong mainly to the southern Greek Mediterranean racial type, something which proves that they were/are 100% Greeks racially as well. Karamanlıdes.Language:
Karamanlı Turkish is a Turkic language historically adopted and spoken by Karamanlides. Works that were published in Ottoman Turkish using Greek script are called Karamanlidika (ÊáñáìáíëÞäéêá / ÊáñáìáíëÞäåéá ãñáöÞ) or Karamanli Turkish. This reveals another cross-cultural concern for these two languages.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karamanli_Turkish_language
Karamanlides Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony at Malakopi (Cappadocia, now Derinkuyu) ca. 1910
The Karamanlides (Greek: ÊáñáìáíëÞäåò; Turkish: Karamanlılar), or simply Karamanlis, are a Greek Orthodox, Turkish-speaking people native to the Karaman and Cappadocia regions of Anatolia. Today, a majority of the population live within Greece, though there is a notable diaspora in Western Europe and North America.
Language:
Historically, the Karamanlides adopted and spoke a dialect of the Turkish language. Its vocabulary drew overwhelmingly from Turkic words with only minimal Greek loan words. The language should not be confused with Cappadocian Greek, which was spoken in the same region during the same timeframe, but is derived from the Greek language. It should be noted while their spoken language was Turkish, they employed the Greek alphabet to write it.
Origins:
Academic disputes over the origins of the Karamanlides have led to the formation of two major theories. According to the first theory, Karamanlides are the direct descendants of Greek-speaking Byzantines. Despite their linguistic Turkification, they maintained their Greek Orthodox faith. This theory is the most likely as 19th century linguists were able to travel through Karamanli-speaking regions of Cappadocia and document the few remaining Greek words that mostly elderly residents could remember. Hence the process of Turkification was documented.
The second theory states that the Karamanlides descended from (religiously converted) Turkish soldiers that Byzantine emperors settled in Anatolia.
Nonetheless, in the age of nationalism in the 19th century, most Karamanlides identified with a sense of Greekness as distinct from their fellow Turco-phone neighbours; largely resulting from their adherence to the Greek Orthodox Church.
Many Karamanlides were forced to leave their homes during the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Early estimates placed the number of Orthodox Christians expelled from central and southern Anatolia at around 100,000. However, the Karamanlides were numbered at around 400,000 at the time of the exchange.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KaramanlidesSo, the Karamanlides were not "Turks", they spoke turkish, wrote with the Hellenic alphabet, they were Greek Orthodox Christians and they were Hellenes in fact. The Greeks called their selves as Romii because the Byzantine Greeks had forbid the use of the name "Hellene" for religious reasons. They used this name after so many centuries of its use. Can you tell us, does the use of the name Romii makes Greeks Romans, Latins, Italians? No of course, but you are so morons to understand that. Slavs=Slav-speaking Balkanians(not racially Slavs), were very few in Greece and they could not change the ethnological character of the people near where they settled, on the contrary they assimilated, as Greeks were the vast majority, and they came in extinct as well. Vlahs=Romanized Dacians/Thracians of Greek Mediterranean racial origin, they were very few in Greece and they could not change the ethnological character of the people near where they settled, on the contrary they assimilated, as Greeks were the vast majority, and they almost came in extinction. Turks(western)=Turkified Asia Minor Greeks and Anatolians(of Pelasgian origin). There is not any evidence that the Greeks mixed with the Turks, neither that they Hellenized any of them, except from some Christian-Turks=Greeks of old origin. But you forgot to include that Greeks also conquered by the Nazis and that modern Greeks descend from Germans, lol. Anthropological Evidence and the Fallmerayer Thesis(Greeks are Slavs, Albanians etc) dienekes.awardspace.com/articles/fallmerayer/For the rest Nordicist nonsense. dienekes.awardspace.com/Albania and the Dinaric RaceGhegs: (4) A very strongly differentiated type which is characterized by medium stature, exceptional brachycephaly, great narrowness and convexity of the nose, a high incidence of occipital flattening, and a tendency to light brown eye color in combination with dark brown hair. This type may be called Dinaric in the full or specific sense; most of the other Ghegs are Dinarics in a partial or a general sense. This ultra-Dinaric type is commonest in the tribe of Dibra. Toscs: The fundamental Tosc type is Alpine. It is my opinion that the Toscs, in pigmentation as well as in bodily and facial characters, resemble the southern and central French very closely; that they and the French form the two ends of the Alpine racial area in Europe, the center of which is largely taken up by the Dinaric amalgam. Mediterranean Albanians: (3) A tall, dolichocephalic or mesocephalic type with dark hair and dark brown eyes, a straight nasal profile, and a tendency toward a lesser leptorrhiny than the total group. This is an Atlanto-Mediterranean racial type which is also prevalent in other Balkan countries. It may also be sorted out of available statistical series of Greeks, while it is common in Bulgaria and easily distinguishable among Serbs. It, or a similar type, also occurs with Dinarics in northern Italy and the Tyrol. In northern Albania it is commonest in Malsia Jakovës and Dukagin. www.theapricity.com/snpa/chapter-XII13.htmThe Pontic Mediterraneans. They also seem to form an early population level in Serbia and Albania. www.theapricity.com/snpa/troeplate26.htmPONTIC. A variety of Mediterranean or Atlanto-Mediterranean, so named by Bunak. It is concentrated in Bulgaria and in the Rumanian lowlands: it also is found in the Caucasus and Ukraine and westward sporadically as far as Germany, Poland, and Lithuania. www.theapricity.com/snpa/troe-appendixII.htmGreeks are not Dinarics neither french looking Alpines, so who's a descendant of Albanians? Who is largely, and especially in recent years, mixed with Albanians? Illiterate moron. It is that you are partially descendants of Greeks, as you have albanize so many Greek Epirotes and you still occupy illegally our Epirotic lands. Greeks keep their manners(ethics, traditions), their Greek language, their ancient Greek Religion(everything have pass to our Orthodox Greek Religion) and their blood/DNA as well. Posting such anti-Greek nonsense you prove more and more that you are the slaves of American Sionists who want to bring the new world order in the Balkans as well as of our traditional enemies, the Turks. Keep licking them fanatic anti-Greek dogs.

maybe your papou had a mustache like this uh ? From when moustaches count for Anthropology? This man is a Dinaric and Dinaric types do not exist in Greece, so we are not descendants of any Ghegs, that's for sure. Same goes for Toscs whose facial characters mostly resemble french Alpines and not Greek Alpines(Eastern-European Alpines). So we are not descendants of any Toscs either. I am not going to search for you, that is what the study says, you like it or not. Prove it, bring here some Anthropologists and Geneticists who support your claims, for the moment take that: Stanford University of U.S.A-Pavia university of Italy research of greek DNA.4) To a large extenet, Greeks of the ancient time "transfered" their DNA to other parts of Europe through their conquests. The study showed that, today, Greek DNA is most similar to: a) Italian DNA.
5) The DNA of Italians in modern day southern Italy is the closest match to the DNA of their Greek neighbors.Genetics:Y-Cromosomes
dienekes.110mb.com/articles/greeknry/indexgr.html
In this autosomal DNA plot of genetic distances derived from 120 allele frequencies, Greeks fall entirely within the cluster containing Caucasoid populations (upper right corner), wedged between Basques and Northern Europeans, and far away from Africans and Asians:
Cavalli-Sforza, L. L., P. Menozzi and A. Piazza. The History and Geography of Human Genes. Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1994.
racialreality.110mb.com/greeks.html
The Greek individuals of this study, like their Italian counterparts had typical southeastern characteristics:
Another study [5] by Tian et al. (2008) considered a larger number of SNPs, with similar results. Once again, the major feature of the variation separated populations from northern Europe and those from southern Europe, while the second principal distinguished between southern Europeans and Ashkenazi Jews. Greek individuals were closest to Italian ones.
The study included a sample of 51 northern Greeks. It is evident that these Greeks (marked by EL), form a homogeneous cluster, none of them falling in the middle of clusters formed by other ethnic groups. Some of the former Yugoslavs (marked by YU) do fall in the middle of the Greek cluster, however. These former Yugoslavs, as well as the two Italian groups (IT1 and IT2) form the Greeks' closest genetic neighbors. The Yugoslavs are between Greeks and Czechs and Poles, consistent with their having both indigenous Balkan and non-Balkan Slavic origins; the Italians are between Greeks and Spaniards, consistent with their having an Eastern Mediterranean contribution, due perhaps to Neolithic farmers, or ancient (e.g. Greek or Etruscan) colonists.
Shortly after the previous study appeared, another article [7] used the same 500K Affymetrix chip over a sample of 3,192 individuals, including 8 Greeks. While many of the sampled populations are represented by a small number of individuals, thus making generalization more difficult, it is evident that the first two principal components bear an even stronger relationship to the geographical map of Europe. This was probably made possible by the inclusion of a wider range of populations, including many from eastern Europe.
