The situation in Mitrovica is bad. The serbs feel abandoned from all the sides. There are thousands of ethnic serbs that their houses and properties are destroyed and taken all over Kosovo and Metohija. At the moment Serbia can not afford another War. What do you think it is the best option for Kosovska Mitrovica?

Its a tough question. I would love to see the Serbian Army re-enter Kosovo but I doubt it will happen with our pathetic government. At this point, the K.Serbs don`t owe Serbia anything and they have very little to lose, the proclamation of an autonomous rep would be good. The most important thing is for them to REMAIN in Kosovo, they are the only foothold Serbia has in Kosovo. The rest will fall into place eventually.

Nothing, they should remain and stop trying to cause tensions.
For KosovO/A to progress as a country both sides need cooperation. I hope one day Albanians and serbs alike can be allies and use each other to develop the region.
The Balkans will be small and divided if we continue our ways. The West isn't an answer, we are no match as small and divided nations against the huge developing nations.
But.. If we can unite, not in a sense of yugoslavia but as in trades and diplomatic actions we can be a power and we'll have a market for eachother.

Suart, l think the region will remain frozen for sometime, with some incidents happening occasionly. If the region sways towards Albania, my question is, how will the Albanians be able to maintain this region and develop it?

If the region sways towards Albania, my question is, how will the Albanians be able to maintain this region and develop it? it will take huge amount of money to "buy" those Serbs into something they are not. There will be another war for sure. Most non-clueless historians agree on that.

I do not think that Albania can afford a confrontation with Serbia and, above all most of the albanians do not want Kosovo as a part of their country. There will be no benefit for the shrinking albanian Economy. As we all know Kosovo is the poorest region in the Balkans. Kosovo was never part of Albania thus, no albanian misses it. I would like to see the Autonomous Rep of Mitrovica, soon. It will send a signal to those yanks that the serbs of Kosovo know how to care about themselves. As well as that, Serbia should enroll in its national Army the serbs of Mitrovica.

Why would they do that, the Serbian Army has made NO attempt since 1999 to re-enter Kosovo or provide any sort of military support to the Kosovo Serbs.
What they should do is start arming themselves (fortunately I think alot of K.Serbs already are) and enlist the help of people with actual military command experience to properly organize themselves and train them in conducting a war.
The ONE THING that Serbs need is LEADERSHIP.

The situation is way too complex to simply solve at the moment, some evolving of the circumstances is first necessary and this only comes with time. It is impossible to reach an agreement in which both sides will be equally happy as well as equally dissatisfied. Even if the North were to completely identify with Serbian rule legally/socially and whatever and the fake borders in between would diminish they’re would still be justifiable conquest for the rest. I think this is why the international community wants to avoid partition, mainly b/c that won’t leave anybody really satisfied with anything besides a strategic gain for the Serbian government, the Serbian police and military can legally station there, pushing their buffer-zone more inland.
Full recognition is also impossible, for as long as Serbia refuses to recognize Kosovo and for as long as the UN recognizes Kosovo as being a UN-protectorate. Plus, China and Russia have numerously stated they’re backing of this. The recent UN-Secretary General report on Kosovo also backs this. It’s really hard to predict what will happen, the beginning of something can only start when the USA finally leaves and NATO empties their artillery and send their guys back home.

Da Shonic, ja sam. Ulf, you can not talk about Albania meddling in Mitrovica nor Kosmet. Albania has no prosperity for its own agenda in the poor areas of the whole country, let it imagine ''investing'' in Kosovoska Mitrovica. The whole problem is that USA and its proxy allies like Albania (poor countries) will do anything to please the first one. It is the bombs of the USA that destroyed the Balkans and it is the bombs of the USA that are destroying the whole Middle East. Where ever the USA's soldier boot stamps, there is no prosperity but drugs and poverty. It is a shame for the whole Europe to allow the new banana rep in the Balkans such as kosovo and metohija.

Sure, but he was talking about power trading alliance. It won't happen until each country start to make some products. That's my point, how will Kosovo or Albania trade if they got nothing to trade with? They will again be forced to emigrate to neighbouring countries and again they will cry for some imaginary injustice, or if they were more lucky in some west European country.

Pyrro, ofcourse. Suart is telling us that Kosovo is a poison for the Balkans, and letting it live in this fashion will only do harm to Albania and the rest of the countries surrounding it. Suart knows to well, socially, the people are divided into powerful families or clans and this is having a devastating effect on the ground. Suart is also forseeing a reality that the families and clans will end up killing each other, his obiviously worried this can leak into Albania.
His telling us that the kosovars (Albanian Kosovans) is a poison for Albanian stability/unity, its something his not taking lightly....l see his point.

^ Brate, Suart knows something, he knows first hand. Many will call him anti-albanian, but his foreseeing something more than the general albanian members here on this forum (too blinded by greater this or that)
