Pelasgians were Hellenes (Greeks), and the direct ancestors of later Greek tribes. *Pelagos : coming from the Greek word Pelasgos.. The ethnonym Pelasgoi (Pelasgians) first occurs in the poems of Homer. There are theories, based on a number of classical quotes, that the Pelasgians were Hellenes (Greeks), and the direct ancestors of later Greek tribes and dwelt in several locations in mainland Greece, Crete, and other regions of the Aegean. The Deucalion and Pyrrha were founders of all the Greeks. Deucalion and Pyrrha had children of their own, most notably Hellen who gave his name to the Hellenes who occupied the land of Hellas, which is the name that the Greeks use for their country down to the present day. Hellen’s sons and grandsons would become the founders of the four main branches of the Greek people.Their children were the first born Doros,Xouthos, the second the Greeks and Macedon. From Xouthos end, the Ion and the Achaeans. So all the Greek tribes (Dorians, Aeolians, Ionians, Achaeans, Macedonians) arose from the Pelasgians. Homer calls Thessaly that if part of Pelasgians was called "Pelasgian Argos" and mentions Pelasgians in Crete and beyond the Hellespont. Pausanias writes that in ancient times was called Pelasgia Peloponnese (Arcadia 1, 6). The Achilles prays "per Zeus, Dodonaie, Pelasgic"! Older Delos was called Pelasgia. The Rhodope Odrysai was of Pelasgic origin. The Phrygians were Pelasgians.
