Been listening to some beautiful folk songs from Makedonija songs.
------
Jovano, Jovanke (Macedonian: Јовано, Јованке, Bulgarian: Йовано, Йованке, Serbian: Jovano, Jovanke) is a traditional folk song of the Macedonia region. It is popular in and frequently performed in the Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia and northern Greece. It is about two young lovers separated by their disapproving parents. The song mentions the Vardar river which runs through present-day Macedonia and Greece.
Jovana is a female name (Slavic form of Joan), and Jovanka is the diminutive version of it. The usages Jovano and Jovanke are in the vocative case, still often used by Bulgarians and Macedonians when addressing each other.
Jovano, Jovanke,
You sit by the Vardar,
Bleaching your white linen,
Looking at the hills, dear
My heart, Jovano.
Jovano, Jovanke,
I'm waiting for you,
To come to my home,
And you don't come, my dear
My heart, Jovano.
Jovano, Jovanke,
Your mother
Won't let you go
To come to me, my dear
My heart, Jovano.

Zajdi, zajdi, jasno sonce (O Set, O Set, Clear Sun; Macedonian: Зајди, зајди, јасно сонце) is a Macedonian-language folk-style song written and composed by Aleksandar Sarievski. In recent times it has gained popularity throughout the Balkans, and in the past sixty years it has become one of the songs the people of the former Yugoslavia most often associate with the Republic of Macedonia.[wikipedia]

Zajdi ,zajdi jasno sonce
Set down, set down bright sun,
Set down, blackout
And you clear moonlight too
Run away, drown yourself
Sorrow- forest, sorrow- my sister,
Let us sorrow together
You- for your leaves, forest
Me- for my youth.
Your leaves, forest - my sister,
Are going to get back to you
My youth, forest - my sister,
It's not coming back.
