Hows the Olympics treating you guys ....good good I hear you brought some metals home .....great ! Closure of Serbian ministry sparks debate. The downgrading of the Serbian Ministry for Kosovo to the Office for Kosovo by the government has been met with mixed reactions. Many analysts said that the move will not effect Serbia's attention to the Kosovo issue, but some said it sends a negative message to Kosovo Serbs "That is a very bad message, because Tomislav Nikolic won by a landslide in Kosovo, where people saw that as their own victory. Unfortunately, it seems as though their joy was for nothing," Jaksic told reporters. "That could also be the new government's message to the West -- that Belgrade acknowledges the real state of affairs in Kosovo," Dusan Janjic, president of the Forum for Interethnic Relations, told SETimes. "Tadic promised a lot to both the international community and the Serbian public, and ended up losing the trust of both. Tomislav Nikolic and the new government are now facing a truly difficult task, to practically abolish Serbia's institutions in Kosovo and assist in the fortification of Pristina's, which is a pretty unique situation in the world," Janjic said. there is more to read here : www.setimes.com/cocoon/setimes/xhtml/en_GB/features/setimes/features/2012/08/14/feature-01

while ............. Thaci: There will be no dialogue, only talks about normalization of relations Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci stated that Kosovo representatives in the political dialogue with Serbia will not be discussed about internal arrangement of Kosovo, but "about the normalization of relations between of two independent and sovereign states”. Daily "Epoka e re" in today's edition reports that Thaci said that "Kosovo had such meetings with other neighboring countries". He noted that until the normalization of relations with Serbia there will be no such meetings without high political level. "There will be no Dialogue with Belgrade. There will be only high-level meetings to discuss about normalization of relations between two states. The normalization of relations could not happen without high-level meetings", said Thaci. Refusing to talk in these meetings about different treatments of Serbs from the north compared with those from southern Kosovo, Thaci said that the comprehensive plan of Martti Ahtisaari “is the best solution". Not specifying possible time of High Level Meeting, Thaci said that these meetings will be held under directions and supervision of European Union and support from USA, reports Kim radio.

during .......... Blasts and Beatings Rock Northern KosovoThree violent incidents have been reported in northern Mitrovica within 24 hours, Kosovo Police said, the most serious being an attack on two Albanians, which seriously injured one. Three incidents have rocked the northern, Serb-run part of Mitrovica in the last 24 hours, including two explosions and a beating of two Kosovo Albanians, one of who was left seriously injured, police said. Police said that on Monday evening two Albanians aged 24 and 25 were assaulted while walking on foot in the northern, Serb-run part of the town of Mitrovica. “The victims were attacked by a group of at least eight or nine persons, without motive. One victim had severe injuries in the head and was transported to the Central Clinic in Pristina,” Kosovo Police said. Kosovo Police also reported on Monday that a car was blown up by an explosive device. The vehicle was aparently owned by an employee of the government's Kosovo Office for Northern Mitrovica. The third incident, according to the report, was reported on Tuesday morning, when a hand grenade was thrown at bar in northern Mitrovica. www.balkaninsight.com/en/article/three-incidents-rock-northern-kosovo-in-24-hours

but then again .....yea again Serbia May Drop Footnote Requirement For Kosovo Stepping back from its hard-line stance, Belgrade may agree to take part in international meetings alongside Kosovo without the use of the previously agreed, but controversial, footnote. In a major concession on Kosovo, Serbia may drop its insistence that Kosovo only takes part in international and regional meetings with a footnote beside its name, the Belgrade newspaper Blic writes. Serbia’s new Vice-President for the EU integration, Suzana Grubjesic, and the Director of the Government’s EU Integration Office, Milan Pajevic, are currently working on the proposition. “The government has concluded that Serbia is losing out most by not participating in these forums, since only the voice of the other side [ie Kosovo] is being heard," a source told the newspaper. "Besides that, large sums of money have been spent on the travel of Serbian officials who then later left the meetings in protest [against Kosovo's participation]. read more www.balkaninsight.com/en/article/serbia-might-accept-kosovo-without-footnote

Negotiations can be used as a stratagem. Though I doubt Nikolic is that smart or patriotic.

Vulin added that it needed to be clear that the Serbian representatives would not meet with “representatives of the state of Kosovo” because “it does not even exist” but that they would meet with legitimate representatives of the Kosovo Albanians. “The Serbian president will not meet with the Kosovo president. The Serbian president can meet with legitimate representatives of the Kosovo Albanians when conditions are fulfilled, but they still have not,” the Office for Kosovo head pointed out. He added that Belgrade could not talk with Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci until allegations that he had been involved in the human organ trafficking and other crimes against Serbs and other citizens of Kosovo were fully investigated. “Belgrade cannot talk to a man who is banned from entering half of the EU member states,” Vulin noted. www.b92.net/eng/news/politics-article.php?yyyy=2012&mm=08&dd=15&nav_id=81785
