If we suppose N generations, then for an individual, DNA tests account only for the male side of the lineage. This means that if we organize the ancestral tree in a top down manner, older ancestors on the top, with males ancestors of each node being on the left side and female on the right side, and the individual in question at the bottom, then the popular DNA tests "calculate" only the top left ancestor. This means that out of a total 2^N-2 ancestors those tests take just .... one.... So, if we trace e.g. 10 generations back (about 300 years), then we take only .... .097% of the whole DNA pool of all the ancestors. And if we forget about intermediary ancestors, then we account for about 0.19% of the top N ancestors.
Am I missing anything?

Y-DNA haplogroup tests just for your Y chromosome carriers. Basically the picture you put. There is also mtDNA which tracks your mitochondrial DNA but it has less mutations as far as I know. So on personal level its irrelevant, you can have some African Y-DNA haplogroup and be like 100% European on autosomal DNA test (the test of 22 chromosome pairs, without gender chromosomes) and look completely North European. I find Y-DNA just convinient for tracking the migrations of people.

Ok, but in recent years, many Slavic women were married to non-Slavs where they migrated. All those migrations are not depicted in any Y-based test. Of course when Slavs were winners they took women from other civilizations, e.g. many Serbs in WWI married Vlah-Greek women and took them to Serbia.
So the political context is important. If Slavs move abroad due to loss, then maybe the Slav women will be married to non-Slavs. If Slavs move as conquerors (due to victory) then Slav males will marry to non-Slavs.
