Group of sixty members of Greek minority in Albania have stoned the Albanian police station in the southern coastal city of Himara. The stoning was a revolt against the arrest of two members of Greek minority organization "Omonia".
Albanian police was forced to fire warning shots in the air to disperse the protesters. According to police, the activist were arrested after their refusal to show any kind of identification as well as resisting arrest.
After the arrest, Albanian medial reported that Greek minorities staged a viloent protest whith anti-Albanian paroles: "This is North Epir", "This is Greek territory", "We want Greek police", "Albanians and Turks Out" etc.
Himara's mayor and president of Omonia's organization, Vasil Bolano, who according to Albanian media lead and organized the protests, denied any anti Albanian paroles and accused the police of using brutal force.
Situation in Himara today is stabilized. Bolano has asked the prosecution office to look into the case.
I bet you they are all from across the border bcs they show no ID
It is high treason for a Greek or Serb to acknowledge Albanians as descendants of the Illyrians
It keeps their conception of a Quasi Genetic unity of each of their races together -Fact-
If anyone can be bothered to translate bits, go ahead!
One more thing; the greek vice-minister of foreign affairs was there too - uninvited (by the albs), and on an unofficial visit. I think he was quoted saying smth like 'borders are not important'. A little provocative for such a high-rank official. And Bollano has been known to create parallels between Himara and Kosova. The guy's maths skills must be very sh!t to draw such a corrolation between the two cases.

So...all Albanian immigrants in Greece should require Albanian police to pull Albanians over and check their papers?
PS: I am using the term "pull over" because the Police has the right to stop cars but not pedestrians as it happens in Greece.....(it's considered a great violation of human rights to stop people in Athens and ask for papers...in order to see whether they are Albanians and deport them or not)...
how come the Greek Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs goes and comes in Albania as he pleases and issues allegoric and double-meaning declarations, holds closed doors meetings with OMONIA representatives??? What if the Vice Minister of Albania goes to Athens and all over Greece and holds meetings with Albanians in there??/
Definition: Albanian territory means Albanian Police: Greek territory means Greek police
Bollano and Co should know it.

Himara did it one more time...the reason, the albanian police pulls over a car that happened to be with foreign license plates, and the people inside it happened to be "greeks' with albanian last names (Zoto, Koka-can't be more albanian), and that bothers me more, because greeks with these wannabe greeks albanians are not only trying to steal our lands, but our identity too.
Let's get this straight. In every country police has the right to pull over every single car on the road especially when a car carries foreign lisence plates, it happens in USA too. If you resist (and these wannabe greeks did resist), police has the right to apply the law in that country...the outcome if this happens in Himara, the wannabe greeks attack the police station in Himara with stones (stone age stuff) while shooting anti-albanian and of course pro-greek slogans. Strange enough all this happens when a high rank greek official happened to be in Albania in a unofficial visit, which held an official meeting with the himariots who asked to vote in Greece as greek citizens in Albania (well, this is greek to me). Not only that, but in this meeting, there were only greek flags and symbols...
(greeks be patient, you'll hear your mother language in the above video...welcome to Himara!)
He held other meetings too with OMONIA, but I couldn't find a video for that, because the meetings were done with closed doors...so much for an unofficial visit.
I'm wondering what our greek friends think about this, and how would they feel if the same think will happen in Greece...don't you think that these wannabe greeks have crossed the line several times so far and it's time for the albanian state to take some action?
I know you don't think so, but I just had to ask you that question...but we albanians think so...

Well it's easy Kanaris...let's say if your kids call themselves canadian and only canadian without mentioning their greek origin, after two generations your greek last name will be listed as canadian, not as greek origin anymore...so their identity as greek its gone forever, probably even yours as their grand grand father.
Probably the canadian example is not the best one, but I tried to make it as simple as I could so you can understand my point .
Now in our case, it's stealing because greeks know that these people are of albanian origin (it's not hard to distinguish albanian and greeks by their last names, you know that), especially when you see that their last names are 100% albanian, but they chose to call them greeks and that's stealing the identity...

SuperAlbaniaN "Police have a right to protect themselves when beeing physically or even verbally attacked." ----------------------------------------------- Nobody denies that... as far as police does not harrash people based on their origins.. In Greece we have far more riots against police stations if some police officers of the specific stations do some matcho-stuff.
Since nobody knows why these 2 people were arrested ... we cant have an opinion for sure. (I dont believe they did something illegal. I believe the police officers didnt like their repplies of being "Greeks" and just harashed them by taking them in the police station and make their day looks sh.it)
Teuta "PS: I am using the term "pull over" because the Police has the right to stop cars but not pedestrians as it happens in Greece.." ---------------------------------------------------- Who told you they dont have the right?? I've been stoped at least 4 times in my life (..2 of them was before any Albanian immigrant came in Greece).. for checking my ID. If you're in "weird" neighborhood in "weird" time.. they have every right to check your ID. They did it with me... they were very polite... they wave me... and they continoue with their patrol. Nothing bad with that. Especially when something happened and they're looking for suspects in this area..
Imagine me... shouting after these 4 times... "Greeks are racists" bla bla bla lol lol

Basil, my theory which is called stupid by you, is being used by greeks for a long time now, and guess what, none of you called it stupid. I can go on and on, but since you live in Greece you know that if an albanian happen to have a greek orthodox name and last name, is qualified automatically as greek, and he/she can have papers and a pension plan thanks to the generosity of the greek government.
What I'm talking about is that these people that started the riots in Himara are albanians. How do I know? Well, I'm albanian and of course I speak albanian, so I can understand when a last name is of albanian origin or not, and in our case we're talking about last names that use common albanian words, like Zoto (God)and Koka (head). I know that these people "feel" greek today for the mentioned reason (unfortunately in todays world you can buy everything with money), and I'm not making these people albanians since they chose to be greek, but I'm trying to explain their real origin.
The examples that you brought here to make your point can't help you, because the people you're talking about are living in Greece for generations, while these Himariots are in Albania, and until 18 years ago if they claimed to be of greek origin, everyone would had laughed at them, because these people didn't even speak a word in greek...now they do, because they work in Greece, but that doesn't make them greeks, because if they are greeks, I must be greek too, since I speak greek and my origin is almost from the same area...
Albquietman... in life you're what you're... not what they baptize you. If I become a Muslim and my new name will be Hasan Hasan... you believe I'll be less Greek than now?
That's what I tried to explain...these "greeks" are albanians, no matter how do they call themselves and how many greek names they use...and you know that, but I'm afraid that this is part of a greek agenda. In the beginning in early 90s, you couldn't be "vorioepirot" unless you had a greek name and last name. Now, if you do not have a last name of muslim origin, you can pass for greek very easy...
By the way, did you see the video in my previous post? Do you think that's right to setup such meetings where you see only greek symbols and the greek national anthem was sang at the end...and all that happens in the middle of Albania. In every country where minorities live, their national symbols are side by side with the national symbols of that country, but that doesn't happen in Albania, because our government is corrupted, but it will not be this way forever...
"The only way to comprehend what mathematicians mean by Infinity is to contemplate the extent of human stupidity." - Voltaire

Basil, they were stopped by police and they challenged the police authority. For this reason, the police took them to police station to check their papers. They (the wanna be Greeks) refused to show the papers to police because the police was Albanian! ...in Albanian territory,,,and this is not the first time such an incident happens.... What I don't understand is: The so called Greek minority in Albania wants to have the right to vote in Greece. Thus, they were asking for Greek passport. And because Greek government doesn't allow them this privilege (to vote in Greece ) they ask it from.....Albanian Government ...to allow them annexing the land to Greece (by autonomy) pretending that this way they will have the right of vote in Greece!!! In such, the Albanian Government has given them the right to vote in Albania!!! and allow them to sing the Greek national anthem and get schooling in Greek language!!! But the problem is that neither Albanian Government nor the Greek one care about them! No matter how much they try to become part of Greece and to be Greeks...the real Greeks don't want them! Is it so hard for them to get? And what it's more funny, that if Albania tells them: Ok...you're free to either join Greece or have the autonomy, they would chose to join Greece, but Greece will refuse them (with politeness of course)...how disappointed will they be? Instead of protesting against Greek government that doesn't allow them to vote in Greece, they protest against Albanian government in order for Greece to allow them to vote in Greece!!!!! In meantime, Albanian government allow them to vote in Albania and doesn't really care whether they wave their Greek flag or speak Greek!!! How uneducated people!
Teuta Who told you they dont have the right?? I've been stoped at least 4 times in my life (..2 of them was before any Albanian immigrant came in Greece).. for checking my ID. Basil,
lol...now tell me: do you look like a criminal or like Albanian?? ;D Because you know very well that no police has the right to stop you in the middle of the street (when you go to work or school) and ask you for the papers (only because they think you might be Albanian or Russian and is told them: operation "scupidia" in action) and you lose your job or the first hour of lectures at University because of them. They are polite as long as you show them the papers. Question to you Basil dear: have you ever tried to ask them: why did you stop me? I need to know the reason. Did they give you a reason?
I
magine me... shouting after these 4 times... "Greeks are racists" bla bla bla lol lol
Well, I should have were I you...if they held me in police station for hours and hours until someone goes to my home and brings the papers to show them since I don't carry them with me, and if I miss the hour to breast feed my little baby and my poor little baby is crying out loud home alone because I am in police station waiting for my husband to go and carry the papers which I happen not to have with me...and my husband would have to ask permission from his job too...and lose the working day...and all this, because I wanted to buy some milk downstairs,,,where police saw me...I think I would have gone to Hague and claim violation of human rights had this happened to me! Thank God it didn't. But it did happen to my friends...and they didn't dare speak. When I asked why...they told me: "because they will deport us, Dear, as simple as that! you can't be that naive"! I was even taken for naive! What a naivety indeed not to understand that if one speaks out loud in Greece against discrimination, automatically is going to be imprisoned and deported.
..really now... this is among the most stupid theories I've ever heard.
Since when the last name represents ethnicity? If that is so.... half of the Greek Prime Ministers like Mr.Evert, Mr. Averoff or almost all the Greek Americans who became John Chris from Giannis Chrisakopoulos etc.... ... are no Greeks???
Seriously now...they can chose to be whatever they want to! They wannabe Greeks...that's fine. But they cannot protest against Albanian Government if Greek Government doesn't allow them to vote in Greece....as a matter of fact, this is the most stupid theory I've ever heard and the most stupid action I have ever seen...

and you got an exalt even that looking at yours you don't need it Teuta.
Basil seams to judge this incident not from the facts of the incident itself , but from the larger Greek minority view position.
Basil this 2 guys simply traveled with no papers in a car with foreign license plates. Were asked for ID and documents and when they didn't produce were taken to police station for 2 hours and let go. Next day a crowd of 50-60 Greek wannabes confronted the police station and threatened. They also shouted "We want Greek police" "Out Albanians and Turks" and other shouts of this nature. Police shot in air to mark the line of "no go zone" if they tried to storm the building. Thats all. Some of them got a bit touchy ruffling 2 policemen physically in the center of the town. So at the moment being 2 and outnumbered from a hostile crowd policeman retreated to the station. It is interesting that the real Greeks of minority the Dropulli zone are much much more communicative and peaceful.
Himara wannabe Greeks have the frustration of Greece not recognizing them as real Greek and playing them with: we know how you feel and thats important, borders are not important you are Greek, you must stay here and feel Greek and thats important. What they really want it is the PASSPORTS. Greece is not giving that to them and they thing by antagonizing and creating incidents in Albania they show Greeknes and become immportant to Greek radars.
It is funny how they want to become more Catholic then the Pope.
Both of u guys are right (bordura and teuta) But what in hell can we say about them? Its the same with the chams. Annexed by Greece, swear loyalty to Greece, and Greece fcuked them . This will go on too here... I feel pity for them. And Greece should feel ashamed about what is doing to them.
Keep being afraid of Great Albania, while Albania is becoming GREAT.
In my point of view, chamides were coursed by both goverments. (greek and albanian). Thats why their issue isn't solved yet.
Their case is like the jews in a miniature version. Jews are hated by everyone. Why? Bcse everyone living among them didnt like them(so fcuking different and clever those jews). So when another prosecutor came, jews felt it could be their savior. Well no one was their savior. So chams were the victims without having any choice to do anything else.
