Tender for 8 exploitation fields of hydrocarbons in 2008 October 29, 2007 RO Bucharest, Oct 29 /Rompres/ - The National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM) is to tender eight new licenses for exploitation in 2008, deputy general manager of the Agency Mihai Gherman told a seminar devoted to the celebration of 150 years since the extraction of the first crude oil barrel in Romania. 'I hope that we will be able to conclude new agreements for eight exploitation licenses by the end of 2008,' Gherman said. The ANRM representative showed that the eight perimeters are placed in Botosani, Dorohoi, Harlau, Prut, Iasi, Siret, Husi (all in the eastern Romania) and Anina (southern Romania) and one in the East Panonic Depression in the south-west. Moreover, in 2008, ANRM might conclude agreements for 26 exploitation perimeters in the south, north-west and Moldavia. Offers can be submitted by end-February 2008. A large part of the perimeters belonged to the Petrom and Romgaz companies, which hold together most of the oil and natural gas fields in Romania. Romania currently has 700 million tonnes of crude oil, out of which 35 percent of the reserves having been attested and more than 1,000 billion cubic metres of natural gas, with more than 45 percent being rich fields in such reserves. Romania made a production of 4.8 million tonnes of crude oil and 12.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas in 2006. The most significant production of crude oil made in Romania, of 15 million tonnes, was recorded in 1977, with the maximum production of natural gas having been reached in 1986, with more than 35 billion cubic metres of natural gas drilled.
