Montenegro: UNDP against the construction of hydroelectric power plants
EMonline
The UNDP considers the hydroelectric power plant construction to have negative effects on Lake Skadarsko and the delta of Ada Bojana river.
The UN development Program (UNDP) considers there is no need for the construction of hydroelectric power plants since a lot of work has to be done to improve the infrastructure, to reduce inefficiency and losses, to create more effective energy system and to deal with subsidy issue.
If the government wants to build the second block of thermal power plant, it needs to pay attention to pollution and the effect on physical and social environment, as announced by the UNDP.
