Ðukanoviæ: Serbia can be regional leader 16 January 2008 | 12:29 | Source: Tanjug PODGORICA -- Milo Ðukanoviæ says that Serbia has the potential to be a regional leader on its path to EU membership.
Milo Ðukanoviæ (FoNet archive)
Even though currently, because of internal problems, Serbia is lagging behind, it has the potential to be the region’s driving force on its road to EU membership if it turns itself towards a European path, Ðukanoviæ said.
The former Montenegrin prime minister and president of the Democratic Party of Socialists said that the intentions of the international community were to resolve the Kosovo question in the first few months of this year, in order to stabilize the region and consolidate its European and Euro-Atlantic future.
He said that “Montenegro’s key goals are to increase economic and institutional development,” and that “this is of crucial importance for economic progress and democratic development in the country.”
Ðukanoviæ said that Montenegro was on a stable path towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
He said that in the coming period, “with our dedicated and professional efforts, I expect a strong springboard effect that the Stabilization and Association Agreement has for every country that signs it.”

Must be that Montenegro will face a serious economic/political crisis soon (the end of their property bubble, the collapse of their economy) so Djukanovic has chosen to reinvent himself once again.
Sorry Djukanovic. We will not forget what you have done and what your poltics have been up to this statement. You created the mess in Montenegro and Serbia will not fix it or give you money to fix it.
Serbia should only help Montenegro once Djukanovic is removed from power, extradited to Italy and some new form of union is made between Serbia & Montenegro (preferabbly a customs union).

^ i'm pretty sure djukanovic has stepped down from office already, and krivokapic was his successor.
also, there will be no collapse of montenegro's economy. because of montenegro's independnance, there has been a very large rise in investment in the country. thats not to say that montenegro's economy is really good, but it is atleast better than before.
montenegro will do just fine, plus croatia feels more comfortable to do business with an independant montenegro with a pro-montenegrin government, so montenegro has that benefit. i believe that in the future, croatia will be one of the biggest economic partners of montenegro, and montenegro a substantial economic partner of croatia's economy.

Krivokapioc is a puppet. Djukanovic advises him on everything. Djukanovic is likely to run for the psot of president because the current president is not as willing a puppet as Krivokapic. The prime minister is the one with the real power in Montenegro, and he is a djukanovic puppet. Actually. There hasn't been an increase in investment. Reputable investors haven't investment and the majority of investment has been shady Russian businessman who use their investments for money laundering or who have connection to criminal groups. Also, since independence Oleg Deripaska has raised his control of Montenegro's economy from 30% to voer 50%. Montenegro's economy hasn't improved and one could argue that it is actually worst since now the huge property price increases have stopped. From November 2006 to January 2007 they have not increased and in some areas they have fallen. Croatia can't help Montenegro's economy. and if it could Djukanovic would be courting Croatia, not Serbia.

No...That's just your inner hopes and dreams coming out..
Who is 'we'? Are you now speaking on behalf of serbia?
He is not asking Serbia for help, and Djukanovic STEPPED DOWN, he is not president any longer, he is the head of DPS
Sturanovic was recently sick and they asked Milo to step in for him, he refused..
He is not his successor, Zeljko Sturanovic is
No, Krivokapic has his own party and own policies seperate from Djukanovic, not to mention Krivokapic is religious Montenegrin Orthodox, while Djukanovic is an atheist..
Sturanovic might have been somewhat of a puppet of Djukanovic...
Not happening..if anyone will it will be Krivokapic
Wrong...just, wrong
Like Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic? (Montenegrin surname by the way)
In fact there are just as much serbian investors from belgrade invested, as well as many French and English.
And you read this where?
Djukanovic is not courting serbia, he is just commenting on their progress, and further Djukanovic does not represent the Republic of Montenegro, but DPS

No. He's only courting Serbia because he will need their help some time soon.
Sturanovic is a puppet as is Krivokapic. Both have politics the same politics as Djukanovic (in all sphers except in terms of religion). Any differences between them are cosmetic at best.
Correct jsut correct. The investment pre-independence and post-independence has been the same.
Abramovic has no connection to Montenegro. Russian names ending in -ovic tend to be Russian jewish names.
Furthermore your claim is absurd. 35% of Montenegro has been sold to foreigners. 85% of that 35% is held by Russians. So your claim of man French/English/Serb ivnestors is absurd.
You should read Montenegrin newspapers. That fact has been mentioned in the vast majority & by foreign media.
First opf all he is. Second of all, given that DPS basically is the govenrment his views represnt the views of the governmen. Third, he rules Montenegro behind the scenes.
