1- The data surprised me, too. I checked other sites and the data were very close to the figures in the link that I posted. That Turkey has more water resources than Britain/Germany/Belgium where it rains in +275 days of the year was especially surprising. Most probably, they only took into account the water that countries have flowing in their rivers. Even then, that Turkey/Greece had more water in their rivers on a per capita basis was surprising even when taking into account the higher population density in Brit/Ger/Bel. 2- Does Chios have any rivers or does it get it water from mainland Greece? 3- There was a water shortage in Ankara last summer, where we didn't have ANY water for four consecutive days. I can't tell you how many times I cursed at the Mayor of Ankara. We'd all better buy some land in Siberia, which will one of the few inhabitable places on Earth once global warming in the next decades turns the climate of Mediterranean countries into sub-Saharan.

Not a single river... no water from mainland other than the bottled for drinking. Chios gets it's water from deep wells... if the rainy season is good... and they fill up.... summer is not that bad...Unfortunately the past 5 years there was not too much rain... and the underground caverns that usually fill up with water ...reached a stage where sea water started to come in to fill the huge void that the rain water usually fills... so now most of the water on the island ..taste like chit....not to mentioned the mercury that has been detected in it... Sooner than later ..they will have to do what they do in Santorini...bring water in from the mainland in a supertanker, 2 a week..
