AAdmin's clarification: This is a Balkan thread (BT!)that will move through some of the major Illyrian Balkan subforums (ex. Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Greece, Albania, Turkey.. you get the picture) and finally end up in Balkan Subforum. Any reply here that refers to this thread as belonging to Croatian Forum will be deleted. Any reply referring to such reply will also be deleted. ---------------------- MIG continues:Well, in the middle of reading up on the background of Croatian Political History within the Austro-Hungarian Empire, I came up with this idea. If your country had to replace it's flag for whatever reason, which flag would you like to see (Make one up, Post an existing one). No Extremist flags. Please state why you chose this flag, whether it is for a Monarchy/Communist State/Democracy/Dictatorship, whatever, please explain why you chose the flag that you did. I'll go first.. I chose this in case Croatian Officials ever trace back the remaining heirs to the Croatian throne, and in any chance Croatia becomes a Constitutional Monarchy. ---- On a final note, guidelines: 1. No Bashing of others Ideas 2. No Extremism 3. No Insults 4. Anyone can Post 5. Instigatory Flags/Posts will be edited not deletedThank you, and go for it... ----

Interesting alternative. Reflects our nations passion for nogomet, not to mention the successes we have enjoyed on the world stage since gaining our freedom and independence! Our chequed red and white soccer (football) shirts are recognised world wide and i think this would be a nice continuation of that recognition in the form of our countries flag.

^ I'll leave it as it is for now. I want to see everyone's responses and ideas. I understand what you mean, but I'd still like to see. BTW, your flag is unique to say the least. I like it, it stands out a lot.

This symbolizes our color blindness.

Siroki, your proposal would just encourage people to use the Croatian flag as a tablecloth.

Mig's is really nice (a lot more aesthetically and historically pleasing than the current one). Siroki, your flag is, to be blunt, somewhat ugly.
I will post my Serbian flag idea as soon as it is done.

For Serbia, I found this flag on the internet: I didn't make this flag but i would choose it: - It is significantly different from the current flag. - It isn't the same eagle design that appears on every other Serbian flag. - Since Serbia has close relations with russia and Russia is choosing ourside on the kosovo issue we should put the same colours they have on their imperial flag on ours (I choose imperial since we already have the same colours they do on their current flag). But instead of having the russian pattern (black, yellow, white) we should have (white, yellow, black).

This was used in Serbia from 14 Feb 1804 - 3 Oct 1813. I would choose it since it is a historical flag and I like flags that do not have conventional shapes.

^ I deleted the Bosnian Flag Radovic, because people will hound you for it and this will become a bashfest.
Secondly, I like the first proposition for the Serbian Flag, it looks good.

If SFRJ Still survived to this day, I think that this would be a nice flag for it. Shows unity, I like it.

I might also choose these flags from first serbian insurrection, due to their unusual shape and to piss off terroreign:

Since Bosnia's internationally appointed overlord is usually someone blonging to some Germanic group i suggest we use the flag that they had under austrian rule: Pre-annexation Post-annexation. Post-annexation isn't showing up. But is looks exactly the same with the yellow on the bottom and red on top.

Its a simplified version of a more complex design I made. I will scan it later. The reasons I like it is because: the colors look awesome and intimidating. They also get rid of the stereotypical Red, blue white tricolor.
