November 22, 2007, 22:00 Putin nominated for Nobel Peace Prize Russian President Vladimir Putin has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The International Center for Research on Biofuels and Patents in Zurich has chosen Putin for his alternative fuel initiatives in Russia. The Swiss organisation says its main goal is to prevent future wars over oil.
The centre proposed Putin for his ideas on developing energies based on nanotechnology. It also praised the President for his efforts to reduce Russia's reliance on fossil fuels.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, Geir Lundestad, said he has no information about the nomination.
He also added that the Swiss-based centre is not one the organisations entitled to nominate candidates for the Nobel Peace Price.
