Okay... well I'm hoping to do a thread with updates to how we're doing, with a boiled down explanation of everything (no technical analysis, etc.).
I bought Intel and NRG calls when everything was down on an expected rally last week.
INTC - $22.5 call, February - $150 loss --I held too long on the rally, I knew I should have sold near the beginning of the downturn.
NRG - $40 call, March - $200 gain[/color] --once again held too long on the rally calls, because it was a $600 gain at one point.
My biggest problem is waking up at f-in 6am to play the market. I do research and some trades at school if necessary... so I hope eventually I can just do this at home.

I'm looking into buying PetroChina (PTR) options very soon, because as an oil company it is in the low cycle in terms of price. I would very much expect the price to be back near or above $200 based on speculation that China will eventually remove the gas price ceiling, or raise it. Added to that, will be the olympics. However, I do expect this and Baidu (BIDU) will be crushed during or after the olympics once everyone realizes the mismanagement and horrors going on in China.

seems you came out a bit above even ....
imo ....I would make a rule so to be a controlled player...
for example ...set your mind on selling options when they are 20% up and sell when they are 10%down ...especially for options that are short on time ....
set you own sell points ...regardless of up or down (more"up" I hope) you will end up feeling better and much safer .....
and when you get out ..dont look back ...next case !
and that old saying ..."dont fall in love with a stock "
treat em like wh0res and use em and be used a bit .... ;D

What about writing options, have either of you considered that? It would seem much easier to make money on writing options since everytime you're selling one you make money on the premium. Anyways, right now I'm looking into E Trade (ETFC) and seeing if they will be able to break the $5 barrier. edit* Also, I use www.optionmonster.com, since they have a table that shows the options with the highest volume, and the largest option trades of the day (institutional movers), and offer good news+stocks to watch.

I don't deal with writing options either, I stick with regular call and puts - you know .. old school stuff. Interesting site Anthologic, I will check it later. For option charts and option data I prefer etrade site (under option chains). Just checked qqqq and my surf(ita) and both are in a tailspin dive (surf-ita is now bellow todays low ). Should be a nice opening tommorow ;D

'American bulls' (link 14 in my above reply) was clear today that sirf might be in a strong bullish reversal mode but it needs a confirmation tomorrow (closing above Thursdays close and I would add with increasing volume would be that). Reversal tendency is detected also at 'stock consultant' (link 1) and 'power ratings' (link 3). But most of the other sites there (links above) remain bearish (especially tech analysis and fundamental analysis based ones). As I said the confirmation is needed. PS: Dropped it early today at 0.80 as I wanted to get that $7.5put cheaper and I did again later today at 0.50. I will drop her tomorrow at 0.70 or 0.80 again and be done with this particular put. Perhaps I turn her with calls if there is a decisive confirmation.
