Sting and “The Police” in Belgrade on June 24th
The legendary British rock band “The Police” will perform in Belgrade on June 24th. The concert will be organized by “Music Star Production” company at Usce and tickets will be soon on sale, ranging from 2, 500, 4,500 (fan pit in front of the stage) and 16, 800 dinars (VIP).
To remind the readers, Wolfgang Klinger from the Vienna-based agency “Rock And More” said for “Blic” last year in September that the chances are great that “The Police” will perform in Belgrade in late June or early July. After several months of speculation, there are no doubts that “The Police” will surely perform in Belgrade on June 24th for 1,5 million dollars at Usce, where “Music Star Production” company organized “The Rolling Stones” concert last year. The concert in Belgrade will be the only concert of “The Police” in this part of Europe, Venice being the closest city to Serbia where the band is also going to perform.
Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland officially announced their reunion in February last year at Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, with the announcement of undertaking a world tour, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their hit single "Roxanne.” British rockers started their tour on May 28th in 2007 with the concert in Vancouver, and the news of their reunion drew great attention of the fans. Tickets for eight concerts in England were sold out within half an hour, and it is believed that over 2,2 million tickets were sold for their performances until the end of 2007!
“The Police” were founded in 1977 by Stewart Copeland, Andy Summers, Sting and Henry Padovani. After their first hit single “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic“, Padovani left the band and in early ‘80s, the band reached the peak of popularity with the hits such as “Message In A Bottle“ and “Roxanne“. After the release of the album “Synhronicity“ in 1983 with the hits “Every Breath You Take“ and “Wrapped Around Your Finger“, the members of the band started their solo careers and their last performance took place in 1986…
If you want to see “The Police” live, this is probably the last chance, since Sting has recently said: “There will be no new album, no big new tour, once we're done with our reunion tour, that's it for “The Police".
