news.xinhuanet.com/english/2008-04/03/content_7913873.htmNATO invites Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina to intensify dialogue www.chinaview.cn 2008-04-03 21:37:54 BUCHAREST, April 3 (Xinhua) -- NATO invited at a summit here Thursday Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina to start an Intensified Dialogue with the military alliance. "There is agreement to invite Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro to begin an Intensified Dialogue on a full range of political, military, financial and security issues relating to their aspirations," NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer told a news conference after meeting with leaders of the 26 NATO members. The Intensified Dialogue is a stage before the Membership Action Plan (MAP), the gateway eventually leading to NATO membership in five to ten years for an aspirant. Scheffer added that NATO will also intensify its collaboration with Serbia. On the same day, the summit formally invited two other Balkan countries -- Croatia and Albania -- to join the alliance. Aspirant Macedonia was left out because of a name dispute with Greece, which vetoed its invitation. The biggest-ever NATO summit which started Wednesday will end Friday before discussing enlargement and operations in Afghanistan. Editor: Song Shutao

NATO would be the best thing for BiH. It would stabilise the country, cemet its borders and ensure long term peace in the region.

i agree. slovenia and hungary are in nato. romania, bulgaria and greece are in nato. croatia and albania just joined. macedonia is just one step away, they just got a small setback thanks to greece, but i believe they will be joining very soon. BiH and montenegro have just officially started talks to join NATO.
in the next 5 years, all of serbia's neighbors, correction,.,.. the whole region besides serbia-kosovo will be in nato.
serbia will be trapped inside a NATO sea, and they'll never be able to be a bully in the region ever again. on the contrary, serbia will be the weakest link. having russia on your side doesnt compare anything to having NATO on your side. russia isnt prepared to go to war for serbia, especially when its against america, but NATO is prepared 100% to protect NATO member countries from agression.
because of all these things, and despite all the anti-american sentiment from the serbian people, i think serbia and its people will want to join NATO aswell.

thing is with kosovo ... u can say its practically in already ... NATO troops are on the ground and are protecting the new country. Any sign of attack would result in full NATO intervention.

Interesting. Bosnia in NATO means Bosnia can veto any NATO action. At the same time, Republika Srpska and Bosnian Serbs in general have the power to veto anything Bosnia does. Why the heck would NATO risk doing something like that. Bosnia is just a shitty protectorate anyway, it is not a real country?
