I have been researching for nearly a month on Cycas Revoluta, and bought couple of them for 2,590 forint in Tesco, they are very cute looking. Its says that Cycas Revoluta can tollerate frost and even drought!!!! ;D, its orgin is from Japan of Ryukyu island, its means that this beautiful plant can live on Hungarian soil outdoors, (not even on pots) and can survive through winter even when its snows. As you all know that Hungary's weather is heating up, remember last years summer? This years summer will be way more hotter than last years summer, and forgot to say that Hungary's soil is a perfect soil for this plant along with all types of agricultural plants. hah!!! ;D ;D Im testing this plant now outside, well d*mn its nearly summer, should of planted it 2 months ago or so. You can now try and have a medditerenean Hungary or a sub-tropical Hungary with this Hungarian Palm tree , habib let me tell ya, nothing is impossible planting in Hungarian soil, go for it and try it out. Tell me, which is colder? Frost or Snow? ;D ;D ;D The only problem is??? Cycas Revoluta is a very slow growing plant, its takes up to 50 to 100 years!!!! to have it grow up to 6 metres high, the only trouble is??? the bloody tree vandals and theives!!! because this plant is a very attractive target!!! Lake Balaton's beach looks better with this plant. link on Cycas Revoluta. www.pacsoa.org.au/cycads/Cycas/revoluta.htmlMake Hungary a proud agricultural country!!!!

I doubt it will work. Ryuku (Okinawa) is the most southern Japanese islands. The Ryuku''s are on the same longitude as north Africa. They have different soil from Hungary, and tropical climate. Yearly lows are 20 degrees celsius.

wats so funny full Monty? try and plant it in Serbia like Belgrade, it should work. another thing, this plant tollerate frost, so if this true then they can survive snow, different soil and tropical climate? Hungary have a very good soil, Hungary can grow nearly anything except tropical foods, Hungary already can grow native medditeranean plants like figs tree and olives tree, rather Hungary is the beginning of medditeranean climate in Europe.

It doesn't snow in Ryuku as far as I';m aware.
