Four years ago Greece shocked the footballing world by beating the hosts, Portugal, in the final of Euro 2004 with a combination of tenacious teamwork and rigid tactics based on man-marking. Will Greece become the first team to retain the trophy?

No country has ever repeated as Euro Cup Champions. History looks to be against us. We shocked the world by raising the cup once. What an unbelievable feat it would be to win consecutive titles. Sikoseto....Xana !!!! Ahhhhhh, could this be possible ?

Yes it is probable and possible. The thing to ask for is: It is doable with Greek team of today? please fill i9n the question. I haven't seen the Greek team maybe in 2-3 years. Are they in good shape? Any major changes? I'm afraid Spain or Germany might get the cup this time around.
Also Russia has been to quiet. Any surprise from them?

Are they in good shape? Any major changes? We have a stronger squad then 2004, with more attacking options and more experience within the players. One thing that concerns me though is we are thinner at midfield then we were back then... "'04---->Zagorakis, Basinas, Katsouranis, Karagounis, Giannakopoulos, Tsartas, Lakis, while for '08---->we've dropped / lost Zag, Tsart, Lakis, Stelios is getting there age wise, and we are banking on Defenders / attackers to fill in the void---->Patsa, Antza, Lymbe, possibly Amanatidis....to me Tziolis does not count, he will be useless" This is were having Ninis of the the bench might of helped.... I pray none of our starters sustains an injury or suffers a suspension because of cards..... Who knows ? Anything is possible ! May the best team WiN !!!

Watch out for Croatia... I heard it's the dark horse of this touranment..also Romania is another one to look for... Italy lost Gattuso to injury, France has no more Zidane.... I realize one player doesn't make the team...but it plays on the remaining players confidence.
Watch out the very zealous Portuguese tomorrow against the Turks... I will not miss that game.... ;D

Portugal 2 - 0 Turkey. Fully Diserved....No passion from the Turks after they went down 1-0.

"Will Greece retain the European Championship?"
No. That happens once in a lifetime. I really believe that football is not inside our DNA. Yes we won... we fought and won... but that does not mean we are good in football. England is. Spain is. Germany is. Latin America is. These are schools for football. Greeks just had and have passion.
On the contrary... Basketball is deep into our DNA. We know how to play this game.... Football... I thing not.

Basil.I disagree with you..... Greek Soccer has taken a twist for the better.
I will give you an example... in hockey the Montreal Canadians were the top dogs winning 24 Stanley Cup Championships.... it was in their blood.. they slept, ate and chited hockey 25 hours a day.... they had reached hockey nirvana... well guess what they haven't won a tournament in nearly 15 years..it's out of their blood ..they are the laughing stock of hockey....
Soccer has penetrated Greek blood.... we might not go to the end in this year but I believe we will go down taking with us a few foes....
Their asses are still burning from the path of destruction we left in 2004.... ;D

I hope you're right. It is just that I dont see any football clubs going well in European cups. For basketball I cant say that. Panathinaikos has become European champion 2 times. There is not a European final four without 1-2 Greek teams. On the other side... Greeks football clubs play 1-2 games in European cups.. and then out. I hope you're right and something has changed. We'll see.

According to common sense: no. But there is no logic in football. It is not chess.
