Montenegro Conditions Ties With Kosovo Podgorica | 06 January 2009 |
Montenegrin President Filip VujanovicMontenegro wants Kosovo to recognise the Montenegrin minority in Kosovo as one of the preconditions for taking their diplomatic relations to a higher level by appointing an ambassador to Pristina.
Montenegro recognized Kosovo Albanians' declaration of independence late last year over the protests of its Serbian minority.
Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic said in a statement on Monday that the recognition of the Montenegrin minority in Kosovo and securing conditions for the return of non-Albanians from Montenegro to Kosovo are necessary preconditions for his country to appoint an ambassador to Pristina.
Vujanovic added that his positive approach to approving the presence of a Kosovo ambassador in Podgorica and establishing a Montenegrin embassy in Kosovo are "naturally conditioned" with fulfillment of those expectations.
Kosovo president Fatmir Sejdiu told Podgorica daily Vijesti that establishing diplomatic relations is in the “best interest of both countries,” B92 reported. He added that there are no problems between Kosovo and Montenegro regarding border issues and that if they did exist, “they are only symbolic” and would "certainly be solved through talks".
“Kosovo wants good neighborly relations with Montenegro and Montenegro has the same approach, and I do not believe that anything can disturb these relations,” Sejdiu said.
“I know that the foreign affairs ministers are regularly in contact with each other over the phone, and I have sent an invitation to [Montenegrin President Filip] Vujanoviæ to visit Kosovo when he can.”
Sejdiu added he "expects a new wave of recognitions to begin shortly" for Kosovo.

^ Basically a counter response to Albanian claims of Montenegro oppressing Albanians -- made by various Albanian parties in Montenegro.
The part of returns is interesting, in the next election some 20,000 or so Kosovo Serb refugees in Montenegro shall be able to excercise their right to vote, which they were not allowed in the 2006 referendum. I wonder how this group compromising 3% of the population will vote. ;D

No. It means that Montenegro is trying to minimize backlash now that media reports say that soon after Orthodox new years on January 14, the government wuill set elections for the end of March.

^ Which amounts to nothing.
The minorities are specifically mentioned in the so-called constitution. If they actually carry this out it will be ruled unconstitutional in a fewe months.

Lets not forget people... The Montenegrins have reckognised us! They will be the first to de-recognize, once Djukanovic is out of power. Which hopefully will be March 30, 2009.

After Djuko recognized Kosovo his chances of staying in power look rather grim. I am confident that he once again will be relying on votes that come from Siptars and Sandjaklije. Something tells me that he won't stick around in power to see the end of 2009. All of my montenegrin cousins are so utterly disappointed by what this monkey has done in terms of Kosovo. They say he has brought shame upon the Montenegrin name. They also say that his approval rate amongst real montenegrins (not some siptar and sandzaklije scum) is at an all time low.

Montenegrins don't care about the Kosovo issue, thats the fact... Even the Serb minority are happy with the new state and the fact that they are now moving towards the 19th century and the 20th century after being stuck with Serbia back in the 18th century.

Yes they are so happy that 30% votes for parties who strive to abolish Montenenegro's autonomy and they are so happy that they came out to protest the recognition <-- the only bigger protests were the ones in 1988 that brough Milo to power.

Who is the main candidate likely to win if Djukanovic loses in the elections? I don;t know. Official candidate lists are coming out in about a week. The main non-Serb opposition is Nebojsa Medojevic of the Movement for Changes. Based on presidential results, the main Serb opponent is Andrija Mandic.

It is simply painfull to see how you people are unrealistic and constatly exaggerating. You said that 20 000 people from Kosovo will now have right to vote?It is partialy true, but it is obvious that you have no clue about real situation in Montenegro since majority of these people will vote for DPS.I guarantee you that.I know quit lot Kosovo Serbs and I must admit that I have low oppinion about them.I completly understand why Albanians dont like them.I mean, they escaped to Montenegro, started this hate-talk against Albanians,Montenegrins(who let them stay )...But situation has changed now and DPS,like every other opportunist organization realized that it would be good to have them by their side.So they gave them jobs,citinzetship...and now, most of them are greater Montenegrins than us who were born here .They still hate Albanians of course. There is no chance in hell that opposition will beat DPS in March. It is obvious that large part of opposition,in fact, work for DPS.How else can you describe the situation in which 2 out of 3 biggest opposition parties are breaking apart into the little peaces and third refuses to join coalition with others right before elections ;D?Splendin timeing, dont you agree? They are near catastrophy, that will be greater than any other that they had in past.Tell me that I am wrong after the elections, becouse I know I am not. This is realistic view and, sincerely,I had enough of pure, unrealistic bulls**t you are writing here about situation in Montenegro. p.s. Kosovo will not any effect on the outcome of the elections, becouse people in Montenegro simply do not give a damn about Kosovo.I know that they will tell you that they are against independant Kosovo if they know that you are Serb, like they will tell that they are pro-independence to the Albanian. In fact they do not care. Not everybody offcourse(maybe those 15-20 % percent who vote for Serbian national parties). BTW,I am old Liberal, the only clean and honest side in this country. Regards.

On another topic I saw that one of the users uses SS insignia as avatar. Is that allowed here ? One, it is pretty liberal board where (at least most) ideas are tolerated as long as they are expressed in a civil manner. It is bad language and (especially) spamming that is looked down upon as these disrupt the boards more then anything else. Two, I do not condone nazism in any form but at the same time can not oversee actions of every single participant.
