HOLBROOKE: KARADZIC WAS THE WORST OF ALL SERB EXTREMISTS!
BELGRADE, August 29 (FENA /Hina) - American Diplomat Richard Holbrooke in his interview for “Press” from Belgrade stated that there was pressure on Karadzic to withdraw from politics after the Dayton Agreement signing but hat it was never guaranteed to him that he would not be trailed before the Tribunal in The Hague.
"Claims that I have promised to Karadzic that he will be free if he withdraws from public life are lies of desperate man who has faced justice finally. Two or three years ago I have seen this paper with my forged signature on it and I laughed out loud!, stated Holbrooke and added that he met with Karadzic only once in September 1995 at the Serbian Government residence in Belgrade.
Holbrooke repeated that he wishes all the worst for Karadzic and that he is sorry there is no death penalty in The Hague but that he is sure he will remain behind bars for the rest of his life and that this is the way justice will be done.
"Karadzic is not the only guilty for the war but he was the worst out of all Serb extremists. He is evil in human shape! This man is responsible for deaths of several thousands of innocent people. He is a lot worse than Ratko Mladic since he believed that Serbs are superior nation and that Muslims have to be exterminated! Mladic was an executor, a classic killer. Recently when I was in Germany I have said that if Karadzic had lived in Hitler time he would have been a good Nazi and that is true!, stated Holbrooke and added that Karadzic’s arrest brought down the last hope of Serb extremists in Serbia that the dream of “Great Serbia” is possible and that the defeat of nationalists will be final when Mladic is arrested.
According to Holbroke, there are two important tasks before Serbia today, first to arrest Mladic and second to make peace with the fact that Kosovo is now a neighboring state and after this there will be no more tensions in the Balkans so that the whole region can turn towards the future.
