Great pictures, they should make a movie that includes all the years of the all the different wars that happened.
As for the poster that mentioned that they should return to the catholic / orthodox religion, I say I have to agree with that. We try and make the case everytime we go back to Kosovo for visit that we have no connection with islam and the muslim world, so therefore there is no reason to have their religion. We were catholic (or orthodox, whichever way you look at it) and then the ottomans changed us with force. GET BACK TO YOUR ROOTS should be the focus of each of our country's leaders.

Very insightful addition to the thread ^.
Really though, you cannot convince me why our people should hold to a religion that has nothing to do with us. Our traditions are different, the culture, etc. Go back a few generations and your family was christian, you cannot escape from that.

Actually Bosnia was home to a large number of Christian heretics called Bogomils, that were suppressed both by the Patriarch in Constantinople and the Pope in Rome, and so the story goes, they converted to Islam in large numbers, because it placed them in a more advantageous position in both commerce and politics, and to enjoy being on top for once. Cant blame them, it must have sucked to be a Heretic in the late middle ages, what with the Dominicans chasing after them and making life miserable.

He can argue them if he wants, just as you can argue your Sharia law. PS: A large number of Muslim originated but secularly oriented intellegencia in both Albania and Kosova think this way. In fact a number of intellectuals once pondered mass conversion to Catholicism so as to bring heavier support from the west. Famous Albania Ibrahim Rugova was among those. Today this view is represented by such men as Ismail Kadare and Kastriot Myftari. I dont agree with them.... There is no need for conversion, pure/enforced secularism is where its at.  |

Not really. Bogomils was just one of many names they were given which was pretty much the names of all other heresies. The best way to name them is members of The Church of Bosnia. They were suppressed by the Pope and Patriarchs but were not suppressed in Bosnia until the last 2 kings I think. From the time before Kulin till the last few kings the members of The Church of Bosnia were well respected and a very important part of Bosnian rusag (government). They crowned our first king. They were advisors to the Bans and Kings. They cosigned various government documents as witnesses, etc. Dominicans never took root in Bosnia, they were too weak. As were all other church orders except Franciscans. Conversions were not like that. The Church of Bosnia was nearly completely destroyed by the last few Bosnian kings. As far as I know the leaders of the Church didn’t convert to Islam, one of them converted to Orthodoxy, the second converted to Catholicism and the last one’s conversion is unknown. The first ones to convert in a significant number were the members of the royal family and other noble families including the King’s children and Queen’s brother.
P.S. Muslims were 1% of the total population for nearly a 100 years after Bosnia was occupied by the Ottomans.
