Poll: Majority of Serbs would not give up Mladic BELGRADE, Serbia: Turn in Ratko Mladic for €1 million? No way, say almost two-thirds of Serbs, who still consider the genocide suspect a national hero. Belgrade-based Strategic Marketing said only 14 percent of people answered "yes" when asked in its poll whether they would provide information leading to the capture the wartime Bosnian Serb army commander, whose arrest comes with a €1 million ($1.3 million) reward. Sixty-five percent responded "no." The rest said they would not know what to do if they knew where Mladic is hiding. The former general has been evading justice since 1995 when he was charged by a U.N. war crimes court with genocide for the slaughter of 8,000 Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica by his troops — the worst carnage in Europe since World War II. The poll was conducted last month throughout Serbia among 1,050 people and released on Friday. It has a 3 percent margin of error. Many Serbs still revere Mladic, believing he saved the Christian Orthodox Serbs from Bosnian Muslim domination during the war, which claimed tens of thousands of lives and left millions homeless. "In a choice between a hero and a villain, it is hard to expect from people a straight 'yes' when asked whether they would turn him in," said Gordana Logar of Strategic Marketing. "The authorities still have not managed to explain to the people the gravity of the crimes he was charged with." Earlier this month, police put up wanted posters across Serbia offering the reward for the his capture. Serbia has been told it must arrest Mladic if it wants to move closer to European Union membership. Government officials say that Serbia has stepped up the search. www.iht.com/articles/ap/2009/01/23/europe/EU-Serbia-Mladic-Poll.php

14% Let me guess, what would be this percentage in albanimalia, if it was an analogous case? I guess 99.9999999% including the wanted persons close family.
Overall, this percentage contains this same message that the west does not wanna know.
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A NATION OF HEROES, ladies and gentlemen, no tricks can change that!

2 points:
a) The ppl of Serbia would love to see all potential criminals punished, but the lack of convictions of muslims and croats and the large numbers of Bosnian Serbs who have fled to Serbia does not leave them much choice. b) Strategic marketing? go wash some dishes b1tch

Exactly right. When the Hague starts sentencing people objectively then we will be talking. Until then all those killed by Serbs in the yugoslav wars (to me) were terrorists and those serbs doing the killings are Heroes. Having said that, Mladic is my HERO!

I bet the people in the bus with Karadzic would have at least protested had they known it was him. All they saw was a hippy being arrested. Also this.

Mladic made it happen, without his military abilities we would never have gotten propper revenge over the balije who started the war in BiH under the false pretense that muslims would be persecuted by Belgrade, dispite the fact that 200 000 of them live in Serbia & didnt suffer anything comparable to what happened in BiH, under Milosevic. Hopefuly Mladic is hiding in a monastery like a REAL Serb hero, not a New Age crank like Karadzic

The only curse that Serbia is under is the propaganda and lies that where efectivley spread and people like you who run there mouths off. If indeed you are a Serb you and ones like you are the very reason Serbia through the ages has suffered, you and your kind are the curse and why we can be divided by our enemys and why our extremists can take power.
And I do mean OURS our enemys our traitors our division our extremists.
Empires have been stood up to while we were united, until traitors allowed themselves to be bought, once divided we were easy pickings but united, as recent history has proven, it takes the worlds force to stop us, and even in the 90's we wernt complety united, its no wonder that the best weapon to use against Serbia has always been its people.

An economic recession and nowhere closer to EU memebership.
