22.07.2008 euobserver.com/9/26525EU foreign ministers on Tuesday hailed the arrest of Bosnian Serb war crimes suspect Radovan Karadzic as an important step in Serbia's progress towards EU integration - but stopped short of offering Belgrade any concrete concessions at this stage... ...some EU member adopted a cautious approach and called for the two remaining war criminals at large - Bosnian Serb military leader Ratko Mladic and former Croatian Serb rebel leader Goran Hadzic - to be caught before Belgrade is allowed any significant rapprochement with the EU. The Netherlands and Belgium "are not ready yet" to assess Belgrade's co-operation with the UN war crimes tribunal as "full" - a criterion for allowing closer EU ties with Serbia... While welcoming the arrest, his Swedish counterpart, Carl Bildt, said it was "a step," adding: "It is not necessarily the step," AFP news agency reported. Mr Kouchner also stressed that "we cannot be satisfied with only one arrest. We are waiting for more."

Actualy I didnt think it would as the pattern is clear as soon as people of Serbia get disalusioned and start to move away from the EU they (EU) start spindoctoring EU entry when people start advocating the EU they add conditions....LOL
But one thing is clear the arrest of Karadzic has clearly shown that the Government did not move him from place to place and kept him hidden. He was out in the open and participating in social and academic circles, noone would have guessed whatsoever that Dr Karadzic was that man in the beard this will lead to pressure on the Belgium and Sweden I am betting that there will be a shift in policy from the EU within the month.

Yes and No. Remember Karadzic wasnt the one that the EU conditioned serbias closer ties over with the union, and now that he is in fact behind bars ... the EU will say well if u could capture Karadzic ... Mladic wont be such of a problem.

It will certainly make a more valid case for Serbia so I am of the oppinion that a shift will happen sooner rather than later, but then again you never know. I am betting within the Month, there are already statements that contradict this article.
If Karadzic was that well diguised and in society none can even guess what Mladic is up to. The desire to arrest is what will pay dividens here.

Tadic was quoted as saying 'we will arrest Mladic' at the Srebrenica commemoration last month ... id now be inclined to believe him.

Well the Tadic Government has certainly proven that they will arrest, if they knew where he was and I think the west do believe him now.
There will be a big push for a softening stance by Belgium Denmark and Sweden.

I doubt any dividends ever will be paid.
