What DO you like Bob? You said getting reminded about Austria beating France etc got you worried and now this is getting you worried rofl And actually i dont see how we play better as underdogs to tell you the truth lol Well that goal.com prediction for the last Austria game had them pegged as favourites. And look how it finished !!! I'm uneasy every time I read reports from players (albeit I do know the reports are sometimes juiced up by reporters) that 'we're going to win 5-0!' 'we have an easy 3 points' 'lets focus on the harder opponent instead'. That was widespread in Euro08 qualifers. Confidence is good, but anything more than that and we lose to Kazakhstan and the likes.

It's not so much confidence...I think its the phrame of mind of most ex-yu coaches. (they are mostly conservative)
Since Serbia has talent..they can play a mostly conservative formation against Spain and pick up a draw. But then that coach would basically play the same way vs Kazakhstan..its too defensive and the way the players are set-up, its hard to score. Mentally it can get pretty frustrating not creating something against such an opponent.
I coach soccer and this is why I always say you have to play to your strength all the time (and my club finished second in my first year)

Vidic calls for crowd's backing
Serbia defender Nemanja Vidic is confident his team will rise to the occasion when the Group Seven leaders take on Austria.
Radomir Antic's side are two points clear of second-placed France in the qualifying pool and three ahead of third-spotted Lithuania, who have played a game more.
With Les Bleus not in qualifying action again until visiting Faroe Islands in August, Serbia have a real opportunity to pile the pressure on by extending their advantage with wins in the upcoming double-header - after the Austria game they head to Torshavn to take on the Faroes on Wednesday.
And Vidic is hoping his side do not buckle under the weight of expectation from the Belgrade crowd.
"We've played well in this qualification campaign and scored a lot of goals, which in essence attracts audiences to the stadiums," said the 27-year-old.
"I hope only that the stadium will provide us with extra motivation, and not hinder us - which can happen because of the pressure."
The Serbians may have the psychological edge over Austria after cruising to a 3-1 triumph in Vienna last October. The visitors scored three goals in the first 25 minutes to stun their hosts.
But Vidic is taking nothing for granted, knowing defeat for his side would get fourth-placed Austria right back in contention for a place in South Africa.
The Manchester United centre-back added: "We beat Austria before but, to be honest, we played phenomenally well in Vienna and maybe surprised them."
Also tomorrow, Lithuania can leapfrog France into second spot with victory over Romania in Marijampole.
The Romanians have managed only four points from their five games so far and are kept off the bottom only by group minnows the Faroes.
The match will be the first qualifier at the Romanian helm for Razvan Lucescu, who was appointed in late April after Victor Piturca was sacked following the poor start to the group campaign.

WCQ Preview: UEFA Group 7
Serbia are aiming to tighten their grip on Group 7 this weekend while Lithuania and Austria aim to keep their World Cup dreams alive.
Lithuania - Romania
Saturday June 6, 21:00 Suduva Stadium, Marijampole, Lithuania
Had Lithuania even managed to claim one point against France in their most recent qualifying matches, they could have been standing on the verge of a shock play-off berth. Two 1-0 defeats, both coming courtesy of second half Franck Ribery goals for les Bleus, consigned Lithuania to the position of dreamers. They still occupy third place in Group 7, but having played a game more than leaders Serbia and second-placed France, their chances of qualification appear to be slim.
The leading sides now have three and one point advantages, respectively, over Lithuania, and Portuguese head coach Jose Couceiro knows that anything less than four wins from their remaining matches is unlikely to be enough to give them a chance of making the big party.
Whatever happens, he can look back on a job well done. Of course, the highlight will be remembered as the 3-0 win over Romania away from home, a game in which the former Soviet state shone, but there has been plenty of cause for optimism elsewhere, with a 2-0 home win over Austria also a really positive success.
Even in twice losing to France, Lithuania were not disgraced. Les Bleus were frustrated for long periods of both games, and it seemed on both occasions that a scoreless draw could be earned. Undoubtedly the hero of the two encounters was Zydrunas Karcemarskas, who was quite outstanding on both occasions. But there was a lack of ambition in the Lithuanian side, and to secure three points on Saturday night, they will have to be far more willing to commit players forward.
To The Future
Surprisingly, given their storming campaign to reach the finals of Euro2008 just 12 months ago, Romania’s bid for World Cup qualification is all but over. Just half-way through the campaign, the Romanians have mustered only four points. Three of these were accrued in the Faroe Islands by way of a solitary Razvan Cocis goal, in a game in which Romania were reduced to ten men and looked under serious threat of not winning for long spells. Their other ‘success’ came against France in Constanta, although the Tricolorii probably felt they should have done a little better having taken a two-goal lead in that encounter.
Otherwise, their World Cup qualifying campaign has been an abject mess from the start, with little of the defensive resilience they showed to reach the European Championships finals on display. It was Lithuania who first displayed the real cracks in the side, winning 3-0 in Cluj-Nacopa by way of a verve-packed performance that fully merited the points.
With subsequent defeats against Serbia (3-2 at home) and Austria (2-1 away), it was little surprise that boss Victor Piturca was given the boot. In his place comes a man of great stock, Razvan Lucescu. Lucescu senior, Mircea, guided Shakhtar Donetsk to the UEFA Cup just a matter of weeks ago.
Saturday’s encounter will be his international bow, and he has already made a significant impression in terms of his squad selection, axing many of the team’s most experienced players and sending a clear message that he wishes to build towards the future.
Serbia - Austria
Saturday June 6, 20:30 Stadion Crvena Zvezda, Belgrade
Group 7 leaders Serbia will be aiming to take a real stranglehold on the pool on Saturday evening as France do not face the Faroe Islands until August. Three points for the hosts in this encounter would give them a very healthy five-point advantage, albeit with one extra game played. Indeed, the Serbians, who host France in September - a match that is likely to be the decisive encounter in the group - could move a mammoth eight points clear of les Bleus as they face the Faroese on Wednesday. Six points from six would lay down a gauntlet, anything less would leave the door ajar for the French.
But their form over the last year suggests that the Balkan country will garner half a dozen points. France aside, the Serbians have roundly dismissed all opposition that have stood in their way in this campaign. Austria and Romania have both been defeated away from home, while Serbia maintain a proud 100 per cent home record having put the Faroe Islands and Lithuania to the sword.
In Belgrade, the Beli Orlovi - the White Eagles - will fancy their chances of making it three out of three by defeating Austria. The game will be no foregone conclusion as Serbia, despite their recent success, are a team somewhat lacking in real goal scoring potential, with the beanpole frame of Valencia striker Nikola Zigic their main threat.
Looking To Stabilise
Meanwhile, Austria have also undergone something of a resurgence over the last 12 months. Around this time last year, fans of the national side were quivering in fear due to the upcoming European Championships, a time that should have been a cause for celebration in the country. There were concerns that Austria would simply embarrass themselves at the competition, having performed in a mediocre manner in the build-up to the tournament.
But the slow improvements that had been seen in friendlies as the Euros approached manifested itself in a far from disgraceful showing in June. The Austrians were hardly a particularly enterprising side, however, they made life difficult for their opponents and ultimately lost out to Croatia and Germany as they battled to qualify from Group B, edged 1-0 by both the aforementioned nations.
Satisfied with his work, Josef Hickersberger quit his post as head coach to make way for Karel Bruckner to continue the improvement, or so the Austrians hoped. In the end, the Czech coach’s reign was a damp squib, lasting only eight months, during which time Austria won only one of six games. That fixture was a highly impressive 3-1 home victory over the shambolic French, giving the Alpine side real hope of building on their good summer showing as this was the first match of their campaign.
Defeats against Lithuania and Saturday’s opponents Serbia - not to mention a draw against the Faroe Islands - quickly suggested that it was not to be for Bruckner, so he was pushed aside to make way for Dietmar Constantini, whose sole game in charge was a key 2-1 success over Romania in Klagenfurt, a victory that keeps Austria’s World Cup hopes hanging by a thread.
Erwin Hoffer scored both the Austrian goals in the aforementioned success and it will be his job to do likewise on Saturday, though the prolific Marko Janko may hog much of the pre-match attention. Whatever happens, Austria desperately need to win.

Antic's lineup for the game (missing Zigic via suspension) Stojković Ivanović, Dragutinović, Vidić, Kolarov Krasić, Stanković, Milijaš, Jovanović Pantelić, Lazović Always been a fan of Lazovic and hoped he would be a star of the repka - hasnt happened for him and at club level (PSV) it has been just as bad. Fukn hope he has a good game today. Another link for coverage - nettelevizor.com/ it has all the major ex-yu channels (Pink, RTS, B92, RTRS, BHTV, HRT1 etc) for free. Srbija games are usually on RTS1...dont know if itll be different to RTS Sat which is the one there.
