Great game and of course fantastic result. Lithuania-France 0-0 @ halftime. Let's hope it's goalless to the end, and prospects are good for the second half of the qualifier

^I would much rather Lithuania win. It would put France in a near impossible position to make it and since Romania is out of contention it would leave Serbia and Lithuania clear at the top.

gonna go watch the France-Lithuania game now...whoever wins this game will end up going through to South Africa. I will send you a cheque for $100 if Lithuania qualifies in the next 100 years.

Serbia win in RomaniaSerbia stayed top of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifying Group 7 by claiming a thrilling 3-2 win away to Romania in Constanta. The Romanians' first defeat in the Black Sea resort was sealed by strikes from Milan Jovanovic and Branislav Ivanovic and an own goal from Dorel Stoica, who also scored at the other end. Serbia have 12 points from five matches, while Romania have four points from as many games. Jovanovic swept in a rebound in the 18th minute after Milos Krasic had hit the post. Stoica then put through his own goal following a 44th-minute corner before Ciprian Marica pulled a goal back for Romania with a delightful lob five minutes into the second period. Ivanovic restored Serbia's two-goal lead with an acrobatic close-range volley. Stoica replied for the home team by turning in an Adrian Mutu free-kick in the 74th minute. Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic was delighted with the win and praised his defence, which was well marshalled by man of the match Nemanja Vidic. "We scored all three goals at the right time and the back four did a superb job after Romania, who are a very good team, launched a spirited fightback," he told Serbian television. "If we win our next two games at home to Austria and away to the Faroe Islands, we will have one foot in next year's tournament in South Africa."

If France beats Lithuania at home in the next game (which they will) than it will be a battle for first spot between Serbia and France. However if some ridiculous miracle occurs and Lithuania at least come away with a draw than it will make things a little interesting.

Kaze "laku noc djubre lazljivo", zloco... upuceno je nekome, Bog zna kome.
Kontrolisemo sudbinu, to je najvaznije sada. Neresen rezultat sa Francuzima kuci (bez ikakhiv kikseva u ostalim utakmicama naravno) i ostacemo prvi u grupi.

Serbs look to home form
Serbia have taken a big step towards reaching the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ finals after beating Romania in their Group 7 qualifier on Saturday and must now get the job done on home soil, coach Radomir Antic said.
"We are halfway there, but we now need to carry our good form into the home games in Belgrade to accomplish our mission," Antic told local media after the Serbians' 3-2 away win kept them top of the group. I want not only to qualify for the tournament in South Africa, but also to build a team with a winners' mentality able to impose their authority on the pitch."
The win left Serbia top with 12 points from five matches, three more than Lithuania and five ahead of France, who have played a game less. Antic singled out winger Milan Jovanovic, who had recently returned from illness, as Serbia's most impressive player in Constanta.
"Jovanovic was only half-fit and not at his best, but even so he was a handful for Romania's defence and played his heart out like he always does. We beat an excellent team but I have to be honest and say that we did not control the game in the closing stages."
Serbia, who are at home to Austria in their next match on 6 June, will also host France and Romania in Belgrade, while they are away to Lithuania and the Faroe Islands. Centre-back Nemanja Vidic believes the toughest part of qualifying is yet to come for Serbia, with only the group winners guaranteed an automatic berth in the finals.
"We are not getting carried away because we are not there yet and we have three difficult home games," he added. "We played a great game but there is no time to rest on laurels and we have to focus on the task ahead."
