Teuta,
I am just playing around. I mean nothing personal, by what I say. "What are Americans?" A mix of Pelasgian, Arbaresh, Italian, Roman, Parthini's, Illyrians, Albanians, Semitic Hellenes, Iranians, Dorians, Molossians, and Egyptians.

The brave monk Samouel Kitsos Botsaris, whose ancestors belong to the Souliote family of Botsaris that paid a big load in blood and tears to liberate Hellas from the Ottoman blood thirsty rulers, in the 18th and 19th century, great picture from the Souliotes villages in mountainous Epirus. I share with you the austerity and grandiose of the Pindos mountains, reminiscent of the bloodshed fights that occured here. Caste of Kiafa

Chios was full of Turks..... we got rid of them... in the great population exchange. Sure there were Greeks that had converted to Muslim... no doubt about that..here in Chios... just in my village there were the Kris and Tremis families.... they converted to Muslim and reconverted back to orthodox when the time came... they did it to secure their vast land they owned... Albs say religion is not important.... but they converted and stayed.. and the tiny Christian minority was speechless to talk about anything back then.... then Hohxa did his number on them.... so they lost their beliefs... Today is a different matter.... too many years have passed.... most muslims there ... are hardly religious anymore ... it's just a thing of a bygone era. Kanaris Chios is quite close to Turkey. If there were indeed ethnic Turks living there, it would not surprise me due to the geographic proximity. However, as I said, Turkish colonization was restricted to Bulgaria & FYROM, where they are still present in large numbers. The Muslims of Greece were in the greater part indigenous. They suffered the hardest blow at the hands of Greek religious extremists. As for the Christians not having a say in Albania; again, don't speak of issues that you have no idea of. Christians in Albania were hardly the landtied and exploited serf class you try to depict them as. Infact, the most free and independent segment of the Albanian nation was the Christian faction in the highlands, such as Malësia or Mirdita in the north, or Suli in the south. Prominent Christians gave their valuable contribution to our history. As for Hoxha; sure, he made rid of whatever religious extremism that might've existed. But Albanians even before him weren't religious fanatics, and Muslims and Christians tied bonds of friendships and brotherhood, marrying each other and so forth. The Albanian indifference to religious fundamentalism was recorded by many bypassing travellers. I thought this was made very clear in the countless of similiar discussions that preceeded this thread .... but I guess that when you don't want to understand, it's hard to accept the truth.

Comunist party in albania was called otherwise orthodox party.
I can find u plenty subways from orthodoxy to communism. And mind u, u are talking to an ex orthodox student also living in comunism for the half of his life.

Of course my Queen. ...until the begining of ww2 there was discrimination to religions bcse muslims had all the land. And u should know that greek minors in Alb didnt have any land of theirs. They got it from the reform of early 90'. In this condition were all orthodoxs. They had no land generally. A few of them had something like my grandpa for example. So when ww2 started, they were more eager to fight bcse didnt have anything to loose! So they suported com. generally. The com party was seen as orthodox party. And something really interesting, u should know; communism had similiarities with orthodoxy in their dogma. I give u one thing only: Panagia I socialistria, I can say that the main division between these two in theory is that com. uses violence. Thats why a georgian guy ex student of an orthodox seminar became one of the fearest dictators of all the time. So, in the south orthodoxs were joining the war against germans. And com party was really strong in the south, in north it was very dificult to follow for catholics. On this base, after war, orthodoxs got key positions in the new state. And some greeks com. came to alb bcse they wanted to live in a com state. Anyway this connection between orthodox and com. u could see in labour party. Many of minorities were there. No discrimination at all. I have already told in another topic of Kico Mustaqi, greek minor. Minister of defence. Orthodox generally got high positions in society. They were very close to the party. The chief commander of national army was orthodox (Alexander Moisiu), his son became president until last year.

Was it true? --------------------------------- Well first thing, they should not bother about the orthodox comunity. Is not theirs. Thanks to our father Noli. And second, the com. is an international idea. The key word is discrimination. There wasnt any discrimination at all.
