FYROM premier acknowledges name issue may spoil bid to join NATO
Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski admitted yesterday that his country would have to step up its efforts to resolve its name dispute with Greece if it is to join NATO. “The name issue is potentially a risk with Greece,” he said in Brussels following talks with NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer. “It is necessary to intensify the discussions.”

I hope 'others' get the message..... that any inspirations they have against Greece will have to disappear if they are to progress..... no candy till the fat lady sings...

Novi. They think Greece will buckle, this isn't the case. Many reasons, Macedonia is the shield of Hellenism also Greek governments have been overthrown before in regards to the Macedonian question. This time if they screw up chances are they'll get assassinated.
That's how passionate Greeks are on this issue.

Guys, its possible that your passion on this issue will result in your country being kicked out of the EU Absurd & idiotic statement. The EU can not kick a country out for this. If Greece was to get kicked out of the EU Greece would have to do something stupid like declare war on Switzerland, declare war on a EU member, or send terrorist hit squads to kill the leader of an EU state. Last time I checked there was no chance Greece would do something like that. Furthermore. What does blocking NATO membership to FYROM have to do with the EU?

That's funny: Can you please provide me a link to your original post, Ajax. I went to the newspaper, looked in both Greek and English editions, and did not find the article you posted. Mine is 2 days old. Your sources are in Bulgarian ? NOT acceptable on a Greek forum where we don't understand the Bulgarian language. In order to validate it's authenticity. Here is the ArticleArticle wasn't big enough to warrant a panic was it. Old articles get side swept to make way for newer ones, besides why didn't you ask then the day you saw it when first posted ?. Agreement btw Greece and FYROM.Under article 11 of the 1995 Interim Agreement.
Article 11. Greece has the right to bloc FYROM’s aspirations for any affiliation with NATO or with the EU with a name not agreed to by Greece.
E.U members have confirmed the obvious already. Greece has every right to veto.

Vardar will buckle, no one else....they have too many problems: people, economy etc....
"That's how passionate Greeks are on this issue."
I think the skopians to survive as a country need to seriously sit down and review themselves because soon they will hit a dead end....in all honesty.

The problem is that Britons and Americans promise them things... and they believe they get them. The still dont know how UK and US act.
The moment they understand that the whole idea and support of UK and US is a part of their global policies (divide and rule), that moment they will change attitude.
Sooner of later they will understand that all these "support" in the name issue is only for creating tension in Balkans so as they will be here to help in peace.
They did the same in Rodesia, they did the same in India, they did the same in Cyprous they are doing the same in Kossovo and Fyrom. These way, Kossovars and Fyromians will need their "protection" for ever since these plans are not accepted by the neighbors.
What Fyromian dont know is... that Britons.. left someday from India and Rodesia... and bloodbath started!
They will not be forever in Balkans. Fyromians have to think about that when it comes to their future plans and attitude towards their neighbors.

Nonsense. Reality is, your immature and arrogant teenage politicians can bark all they want. It all comes down to " sit down and behave in accordance to the agreements made with Greece within the interim accord “ because we sure as hell won't give you any chance to identity theft.

Identity theft? Then there is an uncertainty from where ancient Greek history came from and from whom? Well, I am sure, Ajax, and it came from the Greeks.
By the way, "THEY" are not "MY" politicians. XA XA XA Thanks for enlightening us, I'm sure Tito did his job for a reason.
