Greeks and Serbs do have a similar mentality regarding our nation and our places in the world. However, I don't believe that we are genetically similar.

It's an interesting article. I think Orthodoxy, because of its fusion of national and religious ideas of leadership (caesaro-papism) , is more prone to the God On Our Side delusion than most other Christian religions (Islam is even worse in this regard, since it is a religion that invades ALL aspects of civic life.).
I don't know why Serbs are finding it so difficult to accept that they're paying the price for having followed disastrous leaders. Perhaps it's because Serbs suspect that the West would have gone for them whatever, even if they hadn't been led by idiots, just because they were too close to Russia.
Ask yourselves what would have happened in Kosovo if the Serbs had gone all pro-US and voted in an anti-Russian government?
Greece is far more linked to the wide world – especially because of its tourism, shipping and banking interests. Greeks know that if you hide your head in the sand, your arse is in the air. But Greek anti-Americanism is a realistic appreciation that US realpolitik will override Greek – and European – interests whenever it sees fit, without sentiment. So David keeps sniping from the sidelines and nationalist Greek enthusiasm for the EU is no paradox – in fact it has quite a lot in common with nationalist French enthusiasm for the EU. It's the hope for the right to have the biggest say in your own region.

As per how alone Serbs are, an interesting post by a Serbian girl from Belgrade on the issue of Kosova and links to Europe, this is a response to a reply made by one of the Serbian diaspora members:
This is from a Facebook group on the liberalization of Visa's. Mostly eastern Europeans joins.
I ask Novi this: how many people in the world say "Serbia" and not automatically associate it with ethnic cleansing and genocide?
