I just recently met her in my school. I was very very surprised what her admixture was: 3/4 Kosovar Alb (Muslim) and... 1/4 Greek.... It made more sense once she told me she was born in America and her father had been here for several decades...

She looks your typical American maybe Italian. I'd hit it. Very American. She didnt think it that weird when she told me her mixture. I know more about Sri lanka than she knows about Albania... Although she is "proud". Funny enough she embraces her mixed heritage and even speaks some Greek... a very very American thing...

And it's funny she considers herself a "proud" Albanian when the feeling probably isn't mutual from the Albanian community.

If she went to Albania she would get made fun of and called "Amerikan" and I bet she would be itching for the first flight out in days.

And I bet she would probably think the country is a dump. She looks a little bit too high maintenance for Albania.

Yea, but there is a big difference between me and her: she is quite in love with her mixed ancestry while I am quite open to her about my distaste for the people.
She is a byproduct of America "love your heritage, however mixed" crap.... Im Albanian. She considers her ethnic mixture to be an influential aspect of her identity... while its not at all a factor for me, just a matter of course.

Well, we will have to see. I think your wrong. In the past, ignorance, as with her, was what made me so nice and open and friendly, not knowing the hypocrisy and all the other BS I did not know about. If I sat down with her one day and spent all the day informing her of the reality she is so blind to from living in the US, she would become greatly disturbed and rethink herself. Its because she doesnt know. in her mind, Albania and Greece and just two "cool" nations that make her different from the crowd. Something that lets her have a separate identity from the rest of the Joe-Shmoes in the US.
And could you remove this "All Knowing Oracle" crap already, its far overstepping someones power to label someone without them asking. Its like pretty much blacklisting me.
