Nearly half of Macedonians against recognition of Kosovo
Skopje /19/03/ 16:47
As many as 45 percent of the Macedonian citizens are against recognition of Kosovo's independence, while 35 percent are in favour, showed the results of the poll conducted by the Skopje-based Research and Policies Creation Center.
The survey carried out in early March showed that as many as 95 percent of the Albanians living in Macedonia support recognition of Kosovo as an independent state, while 60 percent of the Macedonia are opposing such a move.
Asked if marking of the border should precede the eventual recogntion of independence, 55 percent of those polled answered that the border demarcation is a priority.
The respondents have divided stances on how would eventual recognition reflect on the security situation in Macedonia. About 28 percent said that the security would improve, 25 percent answered it would get worse and 25 percent believe it would remain unchaged. /end/

Yet during the rule of Serbs, interwar period, the government took the view they were Serbs. It was only after WWII they were called "Macedonians" and that was because Tito (who by the way was not Serb) had irredentist claims on Greece. Not only that but at the ASNOM meeting in which the communist program for the "Macedonian" nation was formulated non-Serbs were the vast majority present. After WWII, the Bulgarian state recognized the "Macedonian" nation. Not only that but one of the key people at the ASNIOM meeting that created the "Macedonian" nation has been granted Bulgarian citizenships -- I of course am talking about Kiro Gligorov.

It would be a good idea to Recognise Kosovo before the NATO summit in April.

Yet during the rule of Serbs, interwar period, the government took the view they were Serbs. Of course u wanted to assimilate the Bulgarians in fyrom. i know. Except that u couldnt assimilate them into Serbs. . Of course u d prefer them to become serbs, too bad it wasnt possible. They were never Serbs, always Bulgarian. Of course, Georgi Dimitrov was serving to the communist international. Only for 2 years of course our unbulgarian communists had this "idea".

Cikola, do you think that the recognition of kosovo by vardar will be a good idea for them in the long run, indirectly, Rex is saying something above?
Do you think that a soverign vardar territory should be respected by the Albanians?. Do you think further destablisation is necessary for all ecomonies of the Balkans?

Relax Ioan hehe, l knew my comment was going to bug u thats why l said it. Look, the region is mixed, but lets look past this for a second, the vardarians are against kosovo partition because they feel as a nation threatened by the Albanian who in their agenda, after kosovo, plan to grow their narco state to include regions of vardar....after vardar then montenegro and Greece.

Nope, looks like Albania and Croatia will enter without Macedonia since they (the macedons) don't have Greek's blessing to do so.
And I agree about Ioan, lol, he needs to understand that they're both bulgarian and serbian. (mixed)

No nothing personal man, just joining NATO is big news. Your country will join someday as well, when democracy reigns in Beograd.
