Created in 1943 because of the cetnik genocide on defenseless Bosniak civilians in east Bosnia, unfortunately the Handzar division was never allowed into Serbia take revenge or the cetnik-controlled areas of BiH. They ended up being used against the partizans. But they went into history as the first SS unit to rebel against the Nazis and their rebellion is still celebrated in France. On 1 November 1942 a group of Sarajevo Muslims addressed a memorandum "To His Excellency Adolf Hitler". Although the memorandum was unsigned, Uzeir-aga Hadzihasanovic, Mustafa Softic and Suljaga Salihagic where identified as the authors in a report signed by Gördes from late January 1943.. The memorandum aptly summarized the viewpoint of Sarajevo Muslim leaders and incorporated several related demands.. (autonomy for Bosnia and the creation of a Bosnian army to defend the Bosniak civilians in east Bosnia from the ongoing cetnik genocide). The memorandum writers identified themselves in race and blood as Bosniaks, not Slavs. “We are of Gothic origin and that bounds us to the German people. We adhered to our old Gothic Aryan religion under the name Bogomilism, which we maintained until the arrival of the Turks in 1463, when we converted to Islam. Islam has much in common with our old Gothic religion, Bogomilism, in their basic principles. In 1463 we welcomed the Turks as savoirs because the Serbs, Croats and Hungarians wanted to destroy us. The Turks gave us autonomy. During the Austro-Hungarian occupation we had full religious and partial political autonomy. In the First World War we were connected to Germany through our blood relation and with Turkey through Islamic religion and history. For our blood brethren, the Germans, we Muslims were to be a bridge from the West to the Islamic East.”

F^&k you people throw this Genocide word around what Genocide ? the only Genocide that was happening was actioned by the Ustasa,Handzar,Nazis against Serbs.

Pfft more like because of this statement,
“We are of Gothic origin and that bounds us to the German people. We adhered to our old Gothic Aryan religion under the name Bogomilism, which we maintained until the arrival of the Turks in 1463, when we converted to Islam. Islam has much in common with our old Gothic religion, Bogomilism, in their basic principles.
Jadan zbunjen Narod lol
There is no doubt that they killed Serbs
Yes that was Genocide.
But they went into history as the first SS unit to rebel against the Nazis
lol only cause the writing was on the wall for the Nazis.... nothing but Cowards and traitors.

Cetniks slaughtered all the civilians they could get their hands on in east Bosnia and you would know this if you didn’t believe that Draza was innocent. Anyway I don’t deny the genocide on Serbs in Jasenovac even if 63 members of my family that where slaughtered by Mihajlovics cetniks are on the Serbian Jasenovac fantasy number list.

Yeah another Serb myth that's easily disproved is how the Handzar supposedly started to kill first Serb civilians, when Chetniks were killing Bosniak civilians since 1940 the Handzar was deployed in 1943. My one and only regret is that it wasn't deployed earlier.
